"NO!" he yelled.

I sat up in bed and looked around. On all sides of me was the heavy curtains of the bed.

"Sire please!" a man begged.

"She was in our custody. How can you let her escape?" Nigel wailed.

"My men were attacked," I recognized King Byron's voice. "Three are dead," he added.

"And I am sorry for your loss, but you have to appreciate my position," he sighed, his voice had lowered, "My son nearly died and my Grandson has not recovered yet."

"I'll be glad to get back home," Anna said. I laid back in bed and listened.

"I still say you are safer here," King Byron said.

"Ellawyn is here," Nigel said sternly, "and now she has her freedom. I won't have her attacking my family again."

"What does she want from you Father?" Shawn asked.

"How do you know her?" Anna asked.

"It's ancient past," he sighed.

I slid the curtain back and swung my feet out. "Oh Marcus," Anna gasped and ran over to me. "Let me help you," she held her arms out and I went to her. She helped me stand and I leaned on her. "Are you alright?" she blinked up at me.

"I am now," I smiled at her and pulled her close.

"You was out for two days," Shawn laughed and walked over to us.

"Never let a starving Vampire clamp onto you, Kid," Allan laughed, shaking his head.

"Are you well enough to stand?" Nigel frowned at me.

"I'm fine," I laughed and walked over to the fireplace, leaning on Anna. "How's Dad?"

"Still weak," Nigel sighed, "We can't leave until he's stronger."

I looked at Anna and she explained, "He nearly died. It was your blood that saved him. I won't have us separated again," she sat me in a chair, "We are better together."

"But I want you safe," I touched her hand.

She kneeled at my feet and smiled up at me, "I will not leave you."

"Anna," I sighed and kissed her softly.

"I will double the guard," King Byron told Nigel.

I looked at Nigel, "When I was waking up....you said she escaped?"

Nigel nodded and looked at the King, "I want my son protected and my Grandson."

"I can take care of myself," I frowned.

"I doubt that, Kid," Allan said in a tone that, for a change, didn't mock me.

I simply looked at him and Nigel explained for him, "You are weak. Michael is slowly recovering. Like Anna said, he was near death. He is still so weak," he smiled broadly at me, "He has your blood but none of your abilities."

"About that," I frowned, "Can you finally tell me what the hell is going on?"

"What do you mean?" he blinked.

I looked over at the balcony doors and slowly stood up. I walked over to the doors and jerked the curtain back. A collective gasp came from behind me as the sunset rays settled on me. I turned to the shocked vampires and frowned, "You all claim to be my family. As far as I am concerned, family are people that don't lie to you."

"We have never lied," Nigel said sternly.

"Get away from the window!" Anna hissed.

I ignored her and turned to Nigel, "You have avoided telling me the truth, Grandfather," I scolded.
