"May I come in?" Anna asked from the doorway. I stopped pacing and looked at her. She wore those tight jeans I liked and a soft pink shirt. Her raven hair was loose around her shoulders. My arms ached to hold her.
I smiled, "I am in no condition for visitors," I pulled up on my chain, "I've been like this for three days."
She came to my side quickly, "Father has left you like this for three days?" she gasped. She stomped one foot, "I'll have a talk with him!" she turned to leave.
"No!" I caught her arm above the elbow and pulled her back into my chest, "Don't say anything to him."
"But this is excessive!" she said and looked down at my feet. She looked up at me quickly, "Has he been feeding you?"
"Yesterday," I nodded.
"Oh I'm going to complain to him," she said and tried to take a step.
"No," I held her easily.
"But Marc," she whined and I laughed. "What is it?" she smiled and put her arms around my neck.
"Nobody calls me Marc. I like it," I pulled her close, "I love you and miss you."
"Have you been able to control your new power?" she frowned.
"Let's see," I smiled and brushed her lips with mine. "So far so good," I whispered and kissed her deeply.
"Marc, we can't do this," she held me away and I smiled at her. "It's to hard for you," she laughed, "Hell, it's to hard for me."
"Don't make me stop, Anna," I whispered against her lips and held her hips to mine. "I've missed you so much," I panted with my need for her. My head pounded, my nerves grew taught and the need pierced my stomach. A cruel part of me ached to sink my teeth into her and drain all of her beautiful blood from her veins. "I have to have her," a part of me growled angrily in my mind.
"I can tell," she laughed and pushed against my chest.
I held her tight and my voice was a low growl, "Don't laugh at me."
She looked up into my red eyes and trembled, "Marcus," she whispered, fear in her voice.
"I won't hurt you," I sighed, closing my eyes in disgust. "You...," I swallowed hard, "You should leave," I pushed her back gently and she fell back a step.
"Are you alright?" she took a step closer and put her hand on my chest.
I caught her hand quickly and looked at her, "Leave," I rasped.
"Marcus," she winced, "let go of my hand and I will." I dropped her hand and she turned and ran to the door. She stopped and looked back at me, "Is there something I can do for you?"
"Stay out of my room," I warned menacingly and turned from her.
I walked over to the window as close as I could. I willed the need to go away. I swallowed hard and looked up at the ceiling. I needed control. WHY couldn't I control this beast that lived inside of me? Grandfather made it look so easy.
"Plenty of practice," he laughed from behind me. I walked over to the desk and put my fist through the wood. "Marcus," he warned.
"I know. I know," I panted, I leaned against the desk heavily, "I'm trying! I'm trying so hard. I'm hungry!" I growled.
"Maybe I've kept you locked up to long," he walked into the room, towards me.
"Don't come near me!" I glared at him and took a step back, holding one hand up.
He waved his hand and laughed, "You won't hurt me," he walked up to me.
"How can you be sure?" I fell back against the desk and watched him take a key from his pocket.
"I would have already been attacked by now, if you weren't able to control the power a little bit," he shrugged and knelt before me, "I think you are much better than you were." He unlocked the shackle on my ankle and stood up. He looked into my eyes, "You will do exactly what I tell you. I may have released you, but you're still in trouble, young man," he said sternly.
"Yes, my Lord," I looked down at my feet.
"Get dressed and we'll hunt tonight," he said over his shoulder as he walked away from me.
"My Lord?" I frowned at his back.
He stopped at the door and smiled at me, "Come on. We'll see what kind of control you have over the power."
"I'm not sure about this," I sighed heavily.
"It's your doubt that makes me sure that you're ready," he laughed and left quickly.
"Glad one of us is sure," I mumbled to myself.
