I rode quietly in the car, listening to Allan sing to the radio. "Marcus?" Grandfather spared a look at me, then looked back at the road.

"I'm fine," I answered quickly.

Allan sat up and put his head between our seats, "Holding it together, Marcus?" he laughed.

"Barely," I laughed at myself and rubbed my sweaty hands on my jeans.

"He'll be fine," Nigel said and shoved Allan's head back. "We'll stay with you," he winked at me.

"I'll be okay," I said shakily.

"Sure about that?" Allan laughed.

"That's enough," Nigel looked in the rear view mirror.

"Sorry," Allan snickered.

"It's okay, Grandpa," I laughed and Nigel shook his head in disgust.

When Nigel stopped the car, Allan said, "Later Dudes!" and opened the door.

Faster than I could see, Nigel reached back and grabbed Allan's arm. "Not tonight, Allan," he shook his head and let his arm go, "We may have to return home quickly."

"Ah Marcus," he moaned, "you're cramping my style."

"Sorry Buddy," I laughed and we all got out of the car.

As busy people passed by me, I could smell their blood. I could feel their sadness and some of them I couldn't feel anything from. Each one so busy with their own thoughts that they didn't notice the danger that stood right next to them.

"Still alright?" Nigel asked and stood next to me.

"Yeah," I said nervously.

"You sure?" Allan asked with genuine concern.

"Just because I can tear someone's head off right now, doesn't mean I will," I smiled and looked around us.

"Control it, Son," Nigel warned. I looked at him and nodded with a smile.

"Well," Allan sighed, "I'm starving." He walked away from us and up to a group of women. He threw his arm around a girl and soon, the girls were laughing at what he was telling them.

"How does he do that?" I asked softly, "Everyone is his friend."

"Vampire charm," Nigel laughed, touched my shoulder and walked down the street with me.

"I'm scared," I whispered.

"What is there to be scared of?" he asked gently.

"I feel like a Youngling on their first night," I ran my hand through my hair.

"You ARE different than you were before," he nodded.

"I hope I don't disappoint you," I said and stopped.

"Hi," a girl looked up at me and blinked. "I like your eyes," she took a step closer to me and I smiled thinly at her. "Looking for company?" she shrugged and the girl with her smiled at Nigel.

"Hello," Nigel smiled at the second girl.

"Both of you?" she asked me and pointed at Nigel. I nodded and shoved my trembling hands in my jean pockets.  "We have a hotel room," she pointed behind me.

"Yes," I managed to say in a soft voice.

"Never done this before, Sweety?" she giggled and took my elbow.

"I guess," I laughed and looked at Nigel. He shrugged as the other girl hugged his side. He put his arm around her shoulders and kissed her jawbone, nibbling her ear. She sighed and clung to him. I smelled a brief whiff of blood and knew his fangs were in her neck.

"Come on," the girl pulled on my elbow and lead me down the street.

As we reached another alley, I pulled her into the darkness. My fangs sank into her neck before she could cry out. I heard a body fall to the ground next to me. Nigel seized my arm, "Don't break her neck," he warned. I loosened my grip and took draws from her. "That's better," he sighed.

I let her fall to the ground and closed my eyes tight as the power passed through me. I panted and looked down at her. "I want more," I growled.

"Really?" he laughed and I glared at him. He slapped my shoulder, "The next one you can take your time with."

The bar was crowded and loud. My nerves were calmer and the need didn't burn as badly as before, so I felt relaxed. Despite that, I still jumped when a girl screamed and fell into me, wrapping her arms around my neck.

"Who's this?" Nigel frowned at me and looked at Allan.

"Christine," Allan answered for me and slapped my back.

"Christine!" I laughed and hugged her off her feet, "Have you seen Elaine lately?" Christine was Elaine's best friend. If Elaine was still alive, she would know where she was.

I dropped her on her feet and she slapped my arm, "No, I haven't seen her for a while. But where the hell have YOU been?" her eyes narrowed.

"Around," I shrugged and laughed at her frown. "What?" I asked nervously.

She put her hands on her hips, "You seem different. You working out or something?"

"Yeah, it's something," Allan laughed and Nigel slugged his stomach, to make him stop laughing.

"I've been working out a lot," I nodded.

"I like it. You're so gorgeous," she groaned and hugged my arm. "Buy me a drink?" she raised her eyebrows.

"Come on," I laughed.

"Thanks," she smiled and I walked with her to the bar.

"I thought I was your favorite," Allan pretended to be offended.

"Ah Sweetheart!" Christine hugged Allan and I laughed.

"I can't believe that you came back here!" a man snarled.

I looked at him hatefully, "Didn't I kick your ass once already?" I straightened up to my full height and Allan nudged Christine behind him.

"We don't want any trouble," Nigel stood next to me and held his hand up.

"Where's my sister?" he snarled and took a step forward so that Nigel's hand was against his chest. "I heard she was with you last. What did you do to her?" he asked angrily and looked at the bartender, "Call the cops!"

"Wait a minute now," Nigel spoke kindly to the distraught brother, "My son hasn't seen your sister."

"Son?" he growled.

"Let's get out of here," Allan suggested.

"No. You're gonna tell me what I wanna know," Bobby yelled at me.

I glared into his eyes, "Stop yelling. I don't know where Elaine is."

"He don't, Bobby," Christine said quickly.

"Let's talk outside," I suggested and Bobby turned and walked away.

"Was that you?" Nigel whispered and I smiled broadly at him, then followed Bobby. Once we were outside, Bobby led me to the alley. "Alright," I held my hands up, "you're going to listen to me."

"To you?" Bobby frowned and put his hands on his hips, "Why should I?"

"Listen or I kill you?" I growled.
