I was awaked with a hard thump on my chest. I cracked my eyes open and stared at the wooden chest. "Open it!" Nigel ordered.

"What?" I sat up in bed.

He pointed at the box, "Tonight's food rations are in that box. You will not be allowed to leave here tonight. Your food is there," he pointed again.

I fumbled with the box, "It's locked!" I looked up at him.

"That didn't stop you last night," Anna said. She leaned back against the dresser and folded her arms over her chest. She crossed her ankles and I noticed she had on a tight pair of jeans.

"We had to have the gate repaired," Dad explained and I looked up at him. "The old combination doesn't work and you opened it anyway."

"It's time for you to quit denying that you have powers," Nigel said.

Anna was at my bedside in a flash. She put one knee on my bed and ripped open my shirt. Her hand covered my chest and her violet eyes locked with mine. "You're heart still beats, when all of ours don't. Don't lie!" she said hatefully.

"I never denied anything," I shoved her hand away and sat against the head board.

"Did you will the gate to open?" Dad whispered.

I looked up at him in silence, then sighed, "Yes."

"I knew it!" Allan gasped. I looked at him and looked at the box. It was food. I needed food. I was hungry. More hungry than I had ever been. OPEN. The lock popped and I pushed open the lid. "He did it," Allan sighed.

I picked up the bag of blood and shook my head, "Poppin' a few locks doesn't make me Super Vampire." I sank my teeth into the bag and sucked.

"He is powerful," Anna told her father.

"If he can rein it in," he shrugged, "then he could be an asset to you."

"He is right here," I frowned at them and they looked at me, "Still in the room," I waved at them.

"Work with him. See what he's capable of," she told Nigel and left the room.

"I suppose I have no say in this?" I looked at Dad and he shook his head slowly.

***************************

I had lived in the mansion for four months. I hunted, grew as strong as I could be and Allan taunted me relentlessly. I knew he was pushing, to see if I could control the vampire in me, but he seemed to also be enjoying it. When Queen Anna was home, my fuse was shorter and Allan had caught a few blows across the mouth, but I had never hurt him.

I watched her from the window most nights. Anna never hunted, her blood was always provided. I wondered how she would be if warm blood filled her veins. She left the garden and I was sad that I couldn't see her. I just wanted to hold her. I wanted to tell her that I loved her. I closed my eyes, "Anna," I whispered.

I went to the bathroom and took a cool shower. There had to be someway to forget her. But how? I saw her nearly every day. I had to get out of this house. I wrapped a towel around me and looked at myself in the mirror.

My blonde hair went down to my shoulders and water dripped down my chest from the thick tendrils. My skin was pale, but my blue eyes were as dark as sapphires. Vampiric power had transformed my wimpy, human body into a muscled form. My arms were thicker, my chest a little broader. I looked at my eyes again. Beyond the color was a sadness.

Someone came into my room, closing the door behind them silently. They tiptoed across the bedroom and came to my bathroom. "Hello," she whispered.

Though I knew someone was coming, my body still jumped to the sound of her voice. "What are you doing here?" I picked up a brush and started brushing my hair.

"Saying hello," Anna laughed.

"You shouldn't be here," I said irritably and tossed the brush away. I turned around and faced her, "What do you want?"

"You," she said softly and came into the bathroom. She stood infront of me, inches from my body. "I've missed you," she smiled.

"Leave my bathroom," I warned, "Before you get hurt."

She smiled and kissed me softly, "You won't hurt me."

"Don't be so sure," I put my hands on her hips.

"Really?" she laughed and laid against me, "You're very powerful."

"I'm not this powerful," I whispered near her lips and she kissed me. "I could never resist you," I said near her ear and kissed her neck. The hunger struck me and the powerful need shook me.

"Marcus?" she asked, rubbing my towel urgently, "Will you make love to me?"

"We shouldn't," I panted as my towel fell to the floor.

"I didn't ask you that," she laughed and pressed her body against mine.

"Anna," I moaned and pulled her up off her feet.

She wrapped her arms around my neck and kissed me deeply. As I walked her out of the bathroom, I felt her legs wrap around my hips. "Marcus," she moaned.

My hand went to her thick braid as I stood her on her feet. I leaned against her and her body was pinned against the bedroom door. I put my hand on the door and leaned most of my weight there. My fangs pierced her skin and I sucked a small amount of blood from her. She gasped with ecstacy and clung to me. I licked her wound and whispered near her lips, "Never come into my room again or you'll get worse." I looked into her purple eyes pointedly, turned and went back to my bathroom. The shower water would have to be colder this time, I told myself.

"Bastard!" she yelled and my bedroom door slammed.

"I know," I said to myself and got into the cold water.
