"It finally happened?" Nigel asked softly and I looked at him.
"I am Him now," I nodded and came inside. I shut the balcony door and jerked the heavy curtain closed.
"Marcus!" Anna gasped and ran up to me. She threw her arms around my neck and I noticed Nigel take an uneasy step towards us.
"It's alright," I looked at Nigel and held up my hand to stop him. I closed my eyes and slowly wrapped my arms around her.
"I was so worried!" she started crying, "I thought I lost you."
She still loved me. My Sweet Anna was still mine. Indulging in the moment, I held my eyes closed and pulled her down. My hands caught her head and I kissed her. Her arms wrapped around my waist and she moaned into my mouth, devouring my love for her.
"Anna!" I panted near her lips, "I love you so much."
"I knew you would come back to me," she laughed. I put my forehead to hers, not wanting her to see my eyes. Not wanting her to see the MONSTER and be frightened of me. "What is it?" she asked nervously.
"Just kiss me again," I pleaded and her lips were on mine in a second.
"She has to know," Nigel urged and our kiss was broken.
"Know what?" she released my waist and pulled back.
I let her go, but turned away from her before she could see my face. "Go now," I warned, "Go before you hate me."
"What did you do?" she asked shakily.
"I am no longer your Marcus," I moaned and Nigel pulled her back into his arms.
"What do you mean?" she laughed, "You ARE Marcus! This IS Marcus!" she said to Nigel angrily.
"No," I sighed and slowly turned to them, "Marcus died."
"Then who are....?" she looked up at me and Nigel held her to his side.
"The Vampire Extraordinaire, that everyone is so damn happy about, has taken over," I smiled at her shocked expression. "I tried to fight Him off for so long," my new voice shook with unshed tears, "Look at me, Anna," I took a step towards them and put my hands on my chest, "I am still here. I still love you," I took a step closer to them.
Anna pushed Nigel away and looked up at me, "What....are you different now?" She gasped and put her hand over her mouth. There was the fear that I dreaded.
"I still love you," I shook my head and held my hands up.
"Anna, let's give him some space," Nigel offered, taking her elbow and pulling her back a step.
She pulled her elbow free and took a step closer. She stood an inch from me, but didn't touch me. Her violet eyes turned purple with her passion for me. Anna panted, staring into my red eyes. She searched my eyes for agonizing moments, until I could no longer breath. She raised her hand and I knew the slap would be hard. Her fingertips touched my cheek and the tenderness of her caress, made me gasp. She moaned and threw her arms around my neck.
"Oh Anna," I sighed into her raven hair, "I love you. I will never hurt you, no matter what I have become."
"I know that," she laughed and I stood her on her feet. She held my head in her hands and smiled, "I can see you are still in there. Marcus hasn't died. You've just evolved into something new."
"There should be tests," Nigel said and we looked at him. "Look," he ran his hand through his hair irritably, "maybe I'm handling this situation all wrong, but...." he held his hands out to me, "....you ARE different."
"I know," I nodded and held Anna to my side.
"You were standing in the sun!" he gasped and turned from us, "Blimey, if that don't beat all!" he talked to himself and we laughed. He turned back to me and smiled, "I owe you an apology, Son."
"Just a hug," I smiled and he held his arms out to me. I ran to him and he hugged me hard. "I hope I can control this," I whispered near his ear.
He held me away slightly and put his hand over my neck, "I'll help you!" he shook me once and pulled me close for another hug.
