Against Nigel's objections and Dad's pleading, I left the mansion. I went straight to my apartment and locked myself in. I covered the windows with blankets and went to bed. I layered on three comforters and hoped for the best.

For weeks, I lived alone. I only went out when I could stand the pain no more. Then I would hunt quickly and return to my bed. Hiding from the world. I considered laying down outside and letting the sunrise kill me, but I didn't. I couldn't. The pain would fade. I just had to wait. I would forget my Sweet Anna.

When I woke one night, I was starving. The pain in my stomach was constant as I dressed. It was time for me to stop hiding and become the vampire I was. I needed to forget family and be on my own. I would hunt and become Vampire. This was the life I chose, it was time that I lived it.

I left the apartment quickly and went to a club. The music was to loud and the patrons were louder. A great place to forget and become a man without family ties. I would be a new man; different than before.

"Hello Sugar," a woman walked up to me and smiled, "Buy you a drink?"

I only smiled, "I'm looking for more than that."

"I got that too," she laughed and went into my arms. She pulled me close and kissed me hard. She panted near my face, "My place?"

"Sure," I nodded, a little uneasy with my new found promiscuity. She took my hand and I walked through the crowd with her. I could do this. I saw other girls smile at me and throw hateful dagger filled eyes at the woman.

"Here," she pointed at a car and we got in. "You from around here?" she asked as she drove North.

"I used to be," I shrugged.

"My name's Elaine," she smiled at me and put her hand on my knee. As she drove, her hand slid up my leg. "You like a forceful woman?" she laughed and put her hand over me.

"Within reason," I swallowed hard and looked down as her hand pulled on my button.

"What's your name?" she stopped at a stop light. Elaine opened my jeans quickly and put her hand inside my underwear.

"Marcus," I took in a sharp breath when her cold hand covered me.

"Sorry," she laughed, "They'll warm up."

"Good," I laughed and laid my head back. I closed my eyes, steeling my will.

"You're young. I'm surprised you told me yes," she smiled at me and pointed with her nose. "There's a seat lever over there."

I reached down and reclined the seat four inches. Her hand fully covered me and I sighed with pleasure.  She drove quickly and I opened my eyes when the car stopped. "Where are we?" I looked around.

She tugged at my pants and I raised up slightly. "The beach," she panted near my face and kissed me hard.

"This is dangerous for you," I pulled her close and kissed her neck.

"I do this all the time," she shook her head and sat on my lap. "You're so good," she whispered near my ear as she guided me towards her. Her hips fell onto mine, "Oh so good!" she cried out and started moving her hips over mine.

"Yes," I moaned near her ear and kissed her neck. She moved faster and just as our release came, my fangs slid into her neck, causing her to cry out. I drank carefully, until she lost consciousness, then laid her back in the drivers seat. I felt her weak pulse on her neck and laughed, "Good night, darlin'."

I found her registration in the glove box and found her address. I moved her to the passengers seat. I drove her home, parked her car and took her inside. I laid her on her couch and watched the rise and fall of her chest. My hunger nagged at me and I knew I had to leave.

I drove Elaine's car back to the club and searched for another victim. Taking a little blood from women would take all night, but I didn't really want to kill anyone.

"And just who the hell are you?" a man walked up to me.

I looked him up and down, "A man you don't want to mess with."

"I saw you leave with Elaine," he poked a finger on my chest, "Where is she?"

"I took her home," I frowned at him, "She was drunk."

"How do I know you ain't lying?" he snarled and poked my chest again.

I grabbed his finger and broke it, causing him to cry out and people around us to gasp. "I don't like to be poked," I said near his face and let him go suddenly.

"My finger!" he yelled and the crowd around us laughed, while others gasped and others looked at me in awe.  I walked towards the door. It was obvious that I wasn't welcome anymore.

"Hey!" someone called behind me, but I ignored them and moved on.  "Hey!" a hand caught my arm.

"What?" I whirled around and knocked the hand away.

"Take it easy!" a girl held up her hands and laughed.

"Sorry," I sighed and looked back at the crowd. Some men were pointing in my direction and other men were looking at me, making up their minds to what they were going to do to me.  "I have to go," I told her.

She looked back, then smiled up at me, "Wanna ride?"

"Sure," I shrugged. Being my own vampire agreed with me. I could take care of myself. I could live alone.

"Come on," she slapped my shoulder and ran outside. I followed her to a motorcycle. "Hop on back," she told me and shoved a helmet at me.

"Back?" I asked.

She popped on her own helmet and got on. She revved the motor and looked at me meaningfully, "I ain't nobody's bitch."

I smiled at her and got on the back, gingerly holding her hips as we rode off.
