Anniversaries are days to remember
So what do we have to forget?
Things that should not have ever happened
By Fate's hand is set
It should not have happened
If he were not there
Sandwich in one hand
He was totally unaware
Not only our soldiers
Who fought for their mates
Felt the horror as bullets
Flew right past their heads
The families at home
Hoping each day
That their sons would return
Each painful day after day
Each passing generation
Seem to forget
That they have it real easy
Compared to all that
Computers to keep in touch
With family they do not see
Phones to speak with
Loved ones not free
We will remember them;
Lest we forget
