...

"Alright, listen up you literal pieces of trash," he paused looking over at Rose and then spoke directly to her, "Except you Hale... We just gained about twenty more runners for the team." Coach announced, his voice echoing through the woods.

From behind him, the entire lacrosse team began walking up to the cross country team. Rose stood up from tying up her laces and looked curiously at the team.

"I will remind you all for the tenth time, cross-country is not optional for lacrosse players. I don't need you turning into a bunch of fat-asses in the off-season." Coach bellowed though all the lacrosse players looked miserable being here.

Isaac made his way over to Rose. He had a smug expression on his face and she laughed a bit at him.

"Cross country huh?"

Isaac shrugged, "I don't wanna brag but I'm a pretty fast runner."

"Really?" Rose challenged raising her eyebrows at him, "Because Coach called me a future Olympian the other day."

"Guess we'll have to see about that." Isaac retorted.

This whole time, Ethan and Aiden kept their eyes locked to Rose the entire time. She felt their glares on the back of her neck, though she tried to ignore it, their stares caused Rose's entire body to go tense. Isaac couldn't help but notice as he lightly tapped her hand with his.

He leaned in closer and asked quietly, "What is it?"

"It's them." She whispered back, her voice barely audible as she tried to prevent it from shaking.

Isaac's teeth gritted together with anger.

Coach's whistle blew and he shouted at the teenagers, "Pace yourselves!"

Before Isaac could start sprinting after the twins, Scott grabbed his shoulder.

"Isaac," Scott said in a warning tone.

"It's them," Isaac stated confidently before sprinting after them.

"Isaac, don't!" Rose shouted before she, herself, sprinted. She didn't even know how far ahead he could've gotten with the twins, until she found herself standing alone without a trace of anyone.

That was until she heard a grunt from somewhere off the trail.

"Ethan, I always forget, how many bones in the human body?"

"I don't know," Ethan replied with a cynical laugh, "Let's count."

Out of pure, and impulsive, anger, Rose lunged forward, punching Ethan directly in the nose.

"That's one." She smirked at Aiden.

One by one, Scott, Ethan, Aiden, Isaac, and Rose, all extract their claws and prepare to fight. That is until a scream was heard on the other side of the trail.

They all then began running toward it, until Ethan pulled Rose back.

"Watch yourself, Hale." He warned.

Roses' breath got caught in her throat as he pulled tightly on the back of her neck. His claws deepening within her skin. She gasped when he let her go roughly, and began walking back to the rest of the team.

Rose rubbed the back of her neck as the cuts healed, while bloodstains were left on her fingers.

"Nothing to see here!" She heard Coach shout from where everyone was standing, "Probably just some homeless kid."
