...

Rose swung open the door of the loft and saw Derek standing there, looking up at the marking painted on his window.

Rose completely disregarded that for the time being, and sighed in relief.

Derek heard her breath from behind him and turned around. The two faced each other and couldn't help but feel a heavy feeling lift from their hearts.

Derek had a playful smirk on his face, knowing how happy his sister was to see him alive.

"Aren't you supposed to be at school?" He asked.

"Aren't you supposed to be dead?" She shot back

"Aren't you supposed to be dead?" She shot back.

Derek rolled his eyes at the girl's witty comment. Then Rose ran toward her brother and wrapped her arms around his shoulders tightly. Derek hugged her back, feeling the sadness disappear from her.

"You're alive." She spoke quietly.

Derek nodded in confirmation, something that Rose needed, and replied, "I'm alive."

Rose then looked up at the marking on the window, "Whatever's going on, I want to help."

"Rose-"

"No," Rose stated firmly before he could argue. She then let out a low sigh and looked down. When she looked back up at him her eyes brightly blazed a crimson red. "I can help."

Derek was taken back by what he saw. Questions swarmed his head as he stared back at his sister, he was now in the presence of an Alpha.

"What? Rose, how?" Derek asked narrowing his eyes at the girl.

Rose gave her brother a shy smile and tugged gently onto her mom's necklace that she had given Rose. Rose smiled as she spoke, "I guess mom left me more than just a necklace... She left me her powers too."

Derek was taken back about how casual his sister was being about this. There was so much more power that this girl had now, she could evolve. Something that took years for even the greatest werewolf to do.

"Rose, you can evolve."

Rose contorted her face into confusion as she stared back at her brother.

"What are you talking about?"

Before Derek could continue to explain, the loft door swung open and Boyd and Isaac both casually walked in.

Derek let out a frustrated sigh and told them both, "Go back to school."

"Well, actually, we can't." Isaac argued, "Boyd and I are incredibly and unbelievably sick."

"With what? Brain damage?" Derek scoffed.

"Well I have a migraine, and, uh, Boyd here has explosive diarrhea."

Boyd glared at Isaac before looking over at Derek, "We're here to protect you."
