...

"Back to your seat!"

Rose kept to herself as she sat alone on the bus. Her head rested against the window as she rocked along with the bus. The constant shouting done by Coach was the only thing that kept her in this sense of reality.

Numb. That's the only word that describe how she was right now. She felt numb. It was as though something was ripped away from her, leaving her with nothing but painful wounds that wouldn't heal.

She didn't want to believe that what happened last night, truly happened. But what she saw won't escape her mind. It's all she saw when she closed her eyes.

"Stop thinking about it, man."

"Like, you're not thinking about it too?"

"Well, stop thinking about it."

"I can't."

"Well, there's nothing you can do about it either."

"You sure about that?"

"We just have to move on."

"Yeah? And is that what you're going to tell her?"

Isaac looked toward the back of the bus, where Rose sat. She looked exhausted, and her eyes were completely bloodshot. Isaac could usually read Rose like an open book, but right now she looked so blank it was hard to decipher. But it broke his heart to see the girl he loved so torn apart.

...

Rose and Cora sat on the escalator, as Rose impatiently tapped her foot along the floor.

"I see your patience hasn't gotten any better since we were kids." Cora joked as she looked down at Roses' foot.

"Being impatient and stubborn runs in the family, isn't it obvious?" Rose smirked over to her sister.

A loud thump was heard at the top of the escalator and both the girls stood up.

Peter stood there, his hands out defensively as he looked down at his nieces.

"It's just me, your uncle, Uncle Peter."

"Uncle Peter who killed sister Laura." Cora sneered.

"Mm, not my finest hour, no." Peter shook his head. "But I'm hardly the only dysfunctional family member. Did Derek mention that he killed me too? Slashed my throat, ear to ear."

"Yeah? And have I mentioned that I want to kill you?" Rose growled.

"Hm, I guess that's another thing that runs in the family." He mocked, smirking over at his niece.

"Are you trying to get me to trust you?" Cora asked.

"Actually, I'm wondering if I can trust you."

"You've known me for seventeen years." Cora stated.

"I knew you for eleven, leaving the last six unaccounted for. And I'm not particularly fond of things unaccounted."

"What are you even doing here?" Rose asked, crossing her arms against her chest.

"Same as the both of you, wondering where the bodies went. Wondering if they were carried out, or maybe if one of them managed to find enough strength to push himself up off the floor and walk out, leaving the three of us standing here to answer the all-important question." Peter responded.
