...
Rose sat on the edge of her bed, her fingers nervously tapping against one another. Cora and her had planned this together, but Rose wanted to back out on it. It didn't feel right to her, something about it didn't feel right. She knew, however, that Cora wouldn't let her back out.
It wasn't until she heard her window creek open, when her mind was distracted by something else. Ever since Kali threatened her about joining Deucalion's pack, she has been on edge. She was constantly worried that someone was after her, ready to kill her unless she obeyed and joined the back.
Rose stayed still and carefully she stood from her bed and headed toward the window. She then ripped open the window and grabbed whoever was standing there and threw him to the ground.
The man grunted as she turned him over, her claws ready to attack. She then gasped when she saw that it was Isaac. She dropped her claws and got off of his body.
"Isaac," she sighed, "What are you doing?" She asked helping him to his feet.
"You weren't at school." He answered with a small shrug.
"So you had to come check on me?" She inquired crossing her arms across her chest.
"I just wanted to make sure you were okay." He told her.
"I can take care of myself," she answered stubbornly.
"I can see that. You've proved that to me on multiple occasion."
Rose chuckled lightly.
"So why aren't you at school?" Isaac pressed.
Rose's smile faded and she looked away from Isaac, "I'm meeting Cora there later."
"Why are you meeting Cora there?"
"It doesn't matter."
"Why do I have a bad feeling about this?"
"Don't worry about it."
"Rose," Isaac said sternly. "You need to be able to tell me things. I don't want to have to knock down a wall each time I try to get something out of you."
Rose scoffed, "Sorry I'm such a burden to you then."
"Rose, you're not- that's not what I'm saying." Isaac squeezed his eyes shut in frustration and then took a step closer to Rose. "I just want you to tell me things, everything and anything. And I want to be able to help you."
Rose looked up into his pleading eyes and felt her heart grow heavy. She knew it was unfair to keep certain things from Isaac, but she really just did it to try and keep him safe.
"I'm sorry." She whispered. "I know there are things that I don't tell you, but I do it because I don't want anything bad to ever happen to you. You mean too much to me, I-I don't know what I would do if I lost you."
