...

"So, this is it?" Rose sighed as she watched her sister and brother finish packing.

Derek nodded slowly not meeting Rose's gaze. He already felt remorse for leaving, and he hasn't even left yet.

"Will you ever come back?" Rose asked nervously.

As quickly as Derek had reconnected with Rose after all these years, he was leaving again. At least they both knew that they would be alive this time.

"Maybe."

"Maybe," Rose repeated quietly trying to hide the cracking of her voice.

"Come with us," Cora stated, not wanting to be separate from her sister again.

Rose shook her head as she gripped onto her necklace and remembered what Derek had told her. "I belong in Beacon Hills. I can't leave. Not now at least."

"Someone needs to keep the Hale name alive here." Derek said standing up, with his duffle in his hand. "I'm proud to say that it will be you."

Rose smiled up at her brother as she tried to suppress her tears. She then rushed over to him, and hugged him tightly.

"I'm going to miss you."

"I'll miss you too." She whispered into his shoulder.

Rose reluctantly had to let go of Derek and she turned to Cora.

"Stay in touch?" Rose raised her eyebrows as she asked Cora.

Cora let out a light scoff and smiled, "Of course."

The two sisters that were shortly reunited, hugged one another for the last time for a long time.

"Be safe." Cora whispered causing shivers to run up Rose's spine.

Rose knew how much of a risk it was to stay in Beacon Hills, but part of her knew she had to stay here. It was like some sort of force of nature that was preventing her from leaving; something out there was telling her she needed to stay. She was this town's guardian.

Rose then tried to keep a smile on her brave face as she watched her two siblings exit the loft. It wasn't until the door slammed shut when Rose let the tears cascade down her cheeks.

...

Rose walked down the hallway of the high school, only to be surprised when she felt two warm hands grip her waist and lift her to spin her around. Her first instinct was to of course fight the oncoming stranger, but this was no stranger.

"Isaac!" She giggled after he had put her down.

He placed a small kiss to her lips and smiled down at her.

"Do you know who your new English teacher is yet?" Isaac asked as the two of them walked down the hallway together, their fingers interlocked.

"No, not yet."

"I wonder if they're going to be as hot as the last one," Isaac joked, causing Rose to hit his chest lightly.

"Let's just hope this one isn't a psychotic killer like the last one." Rose said sternly.

Isaac nodded in agreement, "Yeah that too."

Of course she felt empty being in this town without the rest of her family. It would be another difficult transition for her. But the one thing that would remain constant in this town was someone that surprisingly made her the happiest. He's the person that she never suspected to fill her with so much joy and hope: Isaac was her anchor.

Jennifer crawled weakly against the dirt floor of the preserve, until she finally reached the nemeton. Her hands rubbed against the roots of the destroyed tree. She was gasping for air as the blood was still draining from her.

"Oh, please...please, you saved me once before." She pleaded to the supernatural beacon.

Suddenly a figure, who had been watching previously, whipped her around so she was on her back. Jennifer looked up at the man, and a small smirk appeared on her face.

She let out a scof, "Of course it's you. Everyone else suffers, but somehow, you come out on top. And now that Rose and Scott are Alpha's, you'll be able to steal one of their powers. Knowing your reputation of killing your own kin, I'm sure you won't hesitate to steal Rose's.

Peter gave the woman a shocked look and asked, "You really think I would steal my own niece's powers?" Peter paused letting a devious smile growing on his face, "Because you're right."

"I saw how powerful Rose is. I could see it in her eyes. She'll be more powerful than you'll ever be."

Peter's face dropped at her comment as he felt offense to her words. Anger boiled within him.

"And if you steal her powers, you'll be Alpha again." She continued, only causing Peter to become angrier.

"Again?" He questioned, "Again?"

He then raised his claws and slashed across the throat, dead.

"I...am the Alpha. I've always been the Alpha!"
