...
After figuring out where Lydia was they all rushed into Stiles' Jeep and drove quickly. All of them were filled with anticipation and worry as they speed along the dark and empty roads. No one was sure of what was going to happen tonight and for some reason Rose had a very bad feeling in the pit of her stomach. She figured it was just anxiety, but it was so much more than nerves.
"Hey, you okay?" Stiles asked looking over at Scott who looked as if he was focusing on something with a stone cold concentration.
Scott must've felt the same way as Rose, she thought looking curiously over at the boy as well.
"Yeah." Scott answered but didn't sound convincing.
"Scott?"
"Yeah." He said again trying to sound more reassuring, "You don't have to worry about me."
"All right, I'll say it." Isaac announced from the back seat and Rose looked over at him with a warning glare trying to caution whatever it was he was going to say next. "You look like you're dying."
Rose immediately scolded him by hitting his chest.
"Ow," he rubbed his chest and looked over her, "Come on, Rose, just look at him. You're pale, thin and you look like you're getting worse. And we're all sitting here thinking it. When we find the other you, is he gonna look like he's getting better? What happens if he gets hurt?"
"You mean if he dies, do I die?" Stiles inquired and then shook his head, "I don't care. Just as long as no else dies because of me."
There was a moment of silence but then he continued, his tone much more soft and guilt stricken, "I remember everything I did, Scott. I remember pushing that sword into you. I remember twisting it."
"It wasn't you."
Stiles looked into the rearview mirror back at Rose, feeling utter remorse.
"And Rose...I'm sorry too. Everything that the Nogistune said to you I remember... Seeing the pain in your eyes when I had my hands around your neck, I can't get the image out of my head-"
The pain in his voice was too much for Rose to listen anymore, "Stiles." Rose interrupted sternly before he could say anymore, and reassured him, "It wasn't you."
"Yeah, but I remember it." He sighed.
"What did he say to you?" Isaac whispered leaning in close.
"It was nothing," Rose brushed it off, not wanting to get into it until she understood it and had an explanation herself.
Stiles continued, "You guys gotta promise me. You can't let anyone else get hurt because of me."
Everyone remained silent, knowing that they couldn't make a promise like that. Stepping out on this battlefield tonight, everyone's lives were at risk.
Finally, Rose spoke up causing everyone to look at her, "We protect each other okay?"
The squealing of Stiles jeeps' breaks caused everyone to remember why they were here and what needed to be done tonight. They were all submerged in a dire situation, and it was only going to get worse from here.
They all hopped out of the car and met up with the others who were waiting.
Allison gave Rose a small smile when she saw her walking toward her. Rose suddenly felt guilty. With everything going on it was like they haven't seen each other in weeks and just did normal teenage girl stuff. That only caused Rose to become more determined to defeat this monster and get back to her semi normal life.
