"I'M SO SORRY BABY. I'm so sorry. I'll never leave you like that again. I promise," I tell him, and Hunter holds onto me even tighter, almost like he was afraid that I was going to disappear. I wrapped my arms around him, barely hugging his entire body because of his size, but I tried to calm him down regardless.

"What took you so long?" He asks me with his voice trembling, making my heart shatter into a million pieces. How can someone who seems so tough and intimidating look so fragile?

"You don't have to worry, I'm here now. I won't—" Just when I was about to finish my sentence, a loud thunder sound was suddenly heard from outside, making Hunter hold me even tighter to the point where I had to catch my breath.

I let him be for a while, but when I felt like I could no longer endure his tight embrace, I patted his back and told him, "Hunter, let's go to bed. You'll feel better if you lie down. Don't worry, I'll be there with you."

Hunter doesn't say anything, but he eventually lets go of me. I stood up and grabbed his hand, forcing him to stand as well. While holding his hand tightly, the two of us walked to the bedroom. But just before I could ask him to lie down, I realized that Hunter's shirt was wet. I then looked at myself and almost cursed because I literally forgot that I was actually soaking wet thanks to the rain.

"Wait, let me change first," I say as I was about to let go of his hand, but Hunter refuses, squeezing my hand even tighter.

"Hunter, we can't go to bed like this. The sheets are going to get soaked and we're going to get sick," I explain to him, but Hunter still wouldn't budge, so I sighed in defeat and just thought of a different solution.

"Alright, I'll just remove your shirt. Will that be okay?" I then ask him, and Hunter thankfully lets go of my hand and nods his head to agree to my suggestion. And so I pulled his shirt over his head, used it to wipe his body, and then threw it inside the laundry basket. I then led him to the bed, and Hunter lies down while I kneeled on the floor. I was still wet after all, and it would be troublesome if the sheets get soaked.

"I'll stay here until you fall asleep, I promise," I reassure him, and Hunter doesn't say anything and stares at me for a couple of seconds before closing his eyes.

Hunter had a hard time sleeping, especially when there were still occasional lightning and thunder sounds outside. I didn't know what to do, so I just grabbed his hand as he tried his best to fall asleep. I watched as Hunter twitches every time he would hear a sound. At this rate, he was never going to fall asleep. If only I had headphones then that would have greatly helped. Hunter just needs to hear something other than the storm outside.

Wait, maybe I can do something about that after all.

"You know, I hated the rain too," I decided to share with him.

Hunter slowly opens his eyes when he heard me speak, but I immediately covered his eyes again and told him, "No, just close your eyes and listen to my voice."

When Hunter didn't try to complain, I took a deep breath and held onto his hand even tighter so I could continue my story, "For me, bad things happen when it rains. For starters, my ex-boyfriend broke up with me on a rainy day, and then there's..." I pause and take a deep breath as I remember my parents. For a moment I thought it was a bad idea to talk about something so heavy, but when I looked at Hunter, he looked calmer now, so I just decided to continue.

"I hated the rain so much that in the past, I'd lock myself in my room and force myself to sleep so when I woke up, it wouldn't be raining anymore. But you know, I eventually started liking it," I say as I rub my thumb on Hunter's hand. "There are some good things about the rain too. Like my promotion, I got it when it was raining, and then I met someone from the association who gave me the card, and that was raining too. And besides, I also grew fond of the smell of the concrete floor whenever it gets wet by the rain."
