I ARRIVED BACK AT the apartment, practically running inside to look for Hunter who I idiotically decided to leave on such a rainy day like today because I let my emotions get the best of me.
"Hunter! Where are you!" I shouted, checking all the rooms to see if he was there, but Hunter was nowhere to be found. He wasn't under the bed, inside the cabinets, or even in the storage room like last time. "Oh no, am I too late? Did the association find out that I was asking too many questions and just took him away?" I ask myself in a state of panic.
Without even thinking about it, I ran back down to the lobby where one of the guards was stationed. I was panting heavily since my stupid self thought running down the stairs would be faster than using the elevator.
"Sir, did you see a man head out earlier? The guy I'm always with," I say, and the guard touches his chin and thinks about it for a while before widening his eyes in realization.
"Ah! That good-looking guy? Yeah, I saw him just a couple of minutes ago. He didn't have an umbrella or anything. He just ran out and—" Before the guard could even finish his sentence, I ran out of the apartment. The strong rain fell down on me, instantly making me soaked, but I didn't care at all. I ran and ran, looking around the area, hoping to find him.
"Why did it have to rain today?! And why did you run out when you know the weather's already like this?!" I angrily shout as I head inside the convenience store, hoping to see him there. The customers and the cashier were shocked to see me, but when I realized that Hunter wasn't there, I quickly ran back out.
I went to the grocery store, the park, and the other places where we go too, but I couldn't fucking find him,
"Hunter!" I called out as I continued to run around the city like a madman.
When I still couldn't find him, I decided to head to the pet shop where the Companion's Association is. But as I was running in the park, I caught a glimpse of this tall man wearing the same color shirt that Hunter was wearing before I left, so I ran towards him and started calling out for him.
"Hunter! Wait!" I shouted, practically begging for him to turn around, but as I kept on running, my feet suddenly got caught by the uneven pavement on the ground, making me stumble and sprain my ankle.
"F-fuck!" I shouted, mostly because of frustration rather than pain.
I grabbed onto the light post, the pain in my ankle making things even harder for me. But I took a deep breath until I could finally stand on both feet, biting on my lower lip and sucking it up.
"H-Hunter!" I shouted again, practically dragging my injured foot as I continued to walk around the area.
This is my karma. I should have just kept quiet. I should have just trusted Hunter and waited for him until he was ready to tell me everything. I can't believe how selfish I am.
Uncle, I don't know how you and Hunter are related, but please...please let me speak to him. Please let me tell him how I really feel. Please tell him that all this time, when he was so worried that I might end up falling back to Todd, I was slowly and gradually falling toward his direction.
The way he takes care of me, how he always thinks about my feelings first, and how he's willing to do everything to protect me; all these things were things that should have already made me realize it. Hunter was never good with words. Yeah, he kept things quiet most of the time, but he showed everything in his actions, his kisses, and even the way he just stares at me as if I'm the most important thing to him.
