"WHEN EVERYTHING IS OKAY, we'll get married and have kids, and then we'll watch them play around until the sun sets. Then we'll eat dinner together and stay in their room until the sun sets. After that, we'll get freaky all night until the sun rises."
"That sounds absolutely perfect."
"Just give me a little more time, okay Dane? I promise I'll make things right and make sure these aren't empty promises."
...
"DAMIEN!" someone suddenly shouts from outside the window. "Damien! You need to get out of bed right now!"
I slowly opened my eyes after hearing the scream from outside the house. I nudged Damien who was sleeping beside me as he groaned and slowly got up from the bed to walk to the window, checking what the ruckus was all about.
Damien and I were both out of it, still a little sleepy since the sun has barely even come out, but when Damien looked out of the window, the tired expression on his face immediately turned into shock, and my instincts instantly told me to stand as well.
"Uncle Vic?" Damien confusingly asks, pushing the window open.
I ran beside Damien and looked out of the window as well. Victor was standing outside the house looking like he witnessed something horrific.
"What on earth is going on?" Damien confusingly asks, putting a shirt on before running downstairs. I quickly put my pants on as well, grabbing my wallet and shoving it inside my pocket before following Damien downstairs.
Damien opened the front door for Victor, and Victor immediately went inside, locking the door and making sure no one else would be able to get in. "Have you opened the suitcase?" he quickly asked as Damien and I walked towards him.
"No, not yet," Damien answered.
"Good." Victor takes a deep breath and walks towards me, grabbing my shoulder tightly and saying, "Head out at the front door. A man named Abe will be waiting for you near the river. Take the suitcase with you and he'll drive you back to the city."
"Wait, what's going on?" I ask, trying not to panic.
Victor lets go of me and clenched the cane that he was holding. "They're here," he says. "The association found you."
"What?!" Damien shouts, and all I could do was cover my mouth in shock.
They're here?
How on earth did they find us?
"That can't be. No one knows about this place except for Hael and Jonathan. How were they able to—" Before Damien could even finish his sentence, we suddenly heard a gunshot, and then there were screams coming from a distance. My heart instantly sank when I heard it.
"There's not much time. Day, you have to leave now," Victor tells me, but I was shaking my head in disapproval. Why is he telling me to run away alone? Why on earth does it sound like he wants me to leave Damien behind?
"N-No, I can't leave," I say, my head now in a mess.
Victor was about to say something to me, but Damien suddenly faces me and held onto both of my shoulders. "Baby, listen to me. You have to leave with the suitcase. You can find it in the other room, probably inside one of the cabinets. It's the suitcase with the letters C and A engraved on it so you can't miss it."
