Jade's POV
Being the manager of the band, I always have the burden of handling business. I had to fly out to Florida for a meeting, and it was a miserable trip. It's rainy season for Los Angles, so I had a flight delay. Then the meeting was rebooked for the next day, and I had to reschedule my flight. A trip that should have taken three days ended up taking a week, and I miss my girls terribly.
Finally, my plane is setting down in LA and I'm back to my angels. The driver pulled up in front of our home while the rain poured heavily on me. Between the storm and the darkness of night, I could barely see where I was going!
I opened the front door, happy to hear the sounds of my home; dog barking, cartoons on the TV, music booming in Ella's room, while the whole downstairs smelled like an Italian restaurant. I walked into the kitchen to see Holly cooking, when I was expecting my beautiful Harley.
"Oh, Jade! Welcome home. Harley is upstairs in the master." She said.
"Thanks." I muttered, walking back to the entrance.
I grabbed my suitcase and hauled it upstairs, going past Ella's room, where Pierce The Veil was playing on full blast. She is her mother's daughter! On my way, I passed June's old room, which was now just a shell of what it once was.
There's times I pass by and still expect to see her posters on the walls, see her smiling face while she danced around the room. I know she's only a few states over, but it's odd not having her around.
As I reached our master bedroom, I heard 3 Doors Down playing, and I could smell her favorite candle, Warm Vanilla Sugar, burning. It wouldn't be my Harley any other way. I opened the door, following her radio to the bathroom, but before I could reach it, she must've heard me. She quickly popped out, closing the door behind her.
"Jade! I'm so glad you're home!" She smiled, wrapping her arms around my neck and kissing me. "What's wrong?" Harley asked as she let go of her grip on me.
"Something seems off about you tonight." I responded.
She paused, looking at me like a deer in headlights. In the silence, I heard 'Let Me Go' playing, as if this moment wasn't scaring me enough. "You love me but you don't know who I am."
"I, I don't know. I'm just tired from flying." I stammered. "I'm going to take a quick shower before dinner."
"Oh, um, let me clean up the bathroom a bit for you first." Harley said. "It's a mess in there. You go head and unpack, okay Baby?"
I tried to suppress my suspicions, replying, "Alright."
There is definitely something up! I'm not trying to say my wife has another man hiding in the bathroom or something, but there was a damn good reason she didn't want me in there. I've known this woman since high school, and I know when she's lying.
The real question is, what in the world would she have to lie about? We've always trusted each other with everything, no matter how little or big it was.
Interrupting my thoughts, I heard a light knock on the open door. Holly stood there with the phone up to her chest.
"There was a call for you." She said.
I grabbed the phone from her, thanking her. "Hello?" I answered.
"Hey." NJ replied. "Glad to see you're finally home."
I laughed. "Glad to be home, at least I think I am."
"What's that supposed to me?" He asked as I walked out onto our bedroom's balcony.
"Something's up with Harley." I quietly spoke while I closed the glass door. "She was acting strange, and wouldn't let me into the bathroom."
"O-oh, I doubt it's anything important." He responded in an almost scared tone.
"You know, don't you?" I questioned.
She tells him everything. It is her best friend, other than me, and I get there's no harm since he is gay and very devoted to Ryder, but there's a sense of betrayal. Everything goes to NJ before me.
"Know what?" He asked, trying his best to play dumb.
"You know what's wrong with her, don't you?" I repeated, growing more curious.
"I have to go, Ryder just got home." He quickly said. "I'll talk to you later."
NJ's good at a lot of things, but acting isn't one of them. I remember when Harley was pregnant with Carolyn, he avoided me because he couldn't be around me with the guilt of the secert. When he was around me, he'd close up like a clam or find an excuse to leave... oh my God.
