NJ's POV
As I woke up, I almost had a heart attack to see my alarm didn't go off! Damn it! I hope the kids slept in too, but that's pretty unlikely.
Sarah always gets up early in the morning, and I set an alarm to make sure she isn't caught up alone. I know I can trust her, but I do worry so much about her!
I threw on some clothes, tied my hair back messily and hurried downstairs to find Sarah. When I reached the kitchen, I saw her sitting at the counter and Ryder leaning on the opposite side as they both ate breakfast. The baby was sitting in her highchair right next to him.
"Good morning dada." Sarah smiled.
Ryder looked over at me, and grew a smile of his own. "Morning."
"Morning." I wearily spoke. "My alarm strangely didn't go off this morning."
"I checked your schedule when you went to bed last night. When I saw you didn't have any morning meetings, I thought it'd be best to let you sleep in. You deserve some time off." Ryder explained.
"Thanks." I muttered as I grabbed an apple for breakfast.
Part of me knows he's overcompensating because he fucked up, but it's very sweet. Deep down, I do love this man to death, but I can't ignore the way he hurt me.
"Can I do anything for you today?" He asked. "As far as I know, I don't have any work."
"You could take Sarah to the mall. I've been meaning to, but I'm still under the weather, and you owe her some of your time." I responded.
He grinned, looking over to her. "Sounds like a plan."
Later, Ryder's POV
Sarah and I spent the entire day together. I've always ignored her because of work, but now I understand why Nicky is so attached to her. She's my little Angel!
She helped me pick out Nicky's Christmas present, and I took her to see Santa. Some woman stopped me in line and told me it was so sweet to do this for my wife. I just smiled and nodded, because I didn't have the heart to tell her, I don't have a wife.
It's strange when Nicky isn't around, I kind of forget I'm bisexual. The world goes back to normal, and no one is staring. When we are together though, it's like we stepped into another dimension. Everyone gawks, mostly for a bad reason.
I'd never look at that as a curse though. It's made us stronger as a couple, but I'm not sure our strength can withstand this storm we're in. I'm completely to blame for what happened, however, he's being especially stubborn over forgiving me. Guess only time will tell.
By the time we got home, Sarah was half asleep. I carried her up to bed, then got the bags out of the car and put Nicky's gift in my best hiding place. Once everything was settled, I went looking for his cute ass.
He wasn't downstairs, or in his studio. I slowly opened the bedroom door, letting the light shine across his face as he laid there in bed. He had fallen asleep with The Breakfast Club on the TV, and the baby asleep in her bassinet next to the bed.
I picked up Savannah and lightly walked her to the nursery. She got a little fussy, and I had to settle her down. That took a good fifteen minutes, but Nicky was still out when I returned to the room.
He looked so peaceful. I can't help but image I should be next to him, holding him in my arms. I've got to respect his wishes if I want him to ever forgive me though.
I turned off the TV, then leaned over and kissed his forehead. As I stood back up, I felt his hand weakly grab my wrist.
"Please stay with me tonight." He murmured. "I'm not well."
"I'm here for you, Nicky. I'm here." I soothingly responded as I laced our fingers.
