Cruel Love

Oh, dear one, how you pain me so

Troubling my heart one moment

Then before I even know

Your laughing freely, dancing

Over fields of gray and green

Running into my open arms

Upon my chest you lean

And for awhile you stare into my eyes

As you tell me of your dreams

But then I blink and your gone

Running towards a hill,

Your laughter; vanished, gone

And the light, the darkness seems to steal

Oh, dear one, dear one,

Why is it that my beating heart only craves

Your love?

Instead of something softer,

It thirsts for something wilder, fierce,

And bound all at once,

That's you and your love,

Your cruel,

Cruel,

Love,

Yet from it, I'd never run. 🖤
