Suddenly she ducked and then turned to face her attacker and kicked him, what was she doing training in a back alley of the City of Towers as it was called? This was her life and this was where she belonged. Sunrise castle. She dwelt was only a few blocks away and she could easily go back if she was needed. She needed this to survive the world that they knew. She was the princess didn't have the same duties as the council they made all of the major decisions. She was only there to say what she felt about something that they were going to vote on otherwise. she was in the castle she had gotten away this time saying that she was going to the lake. She knew that was one of the places that her mother let her go and not have an escort. Cinder walked away from the big crowd and looked around. Were any of her father's guards around? If they were, then she would be in trouble and she would have to go back. She had to go and get back before anyone noticed that she had left with. That would be tricky business. What about the people? They would notice her instantly . Then where would she be? She pulled her cloak over her face and went and walked the other way . She went in the back way to the castle gates. What would she tell her father about where she had been? She couldn't tell him the truth or that would ruin everything that she was trying to do. Cinder looked out into the hall and saw that no one was there that was there. perfect. She could go to her room and not be spotted and talked to. Then she wouldn't have to tell anyone where she had gone and why. She stepped inside and looked around. This was her home and this was the place she wanted to be. Suddenly a maid came to her and curtsied "m'lady, your father wishes to see you in the throne room." Cinder looked at her "why, did something happen? the maid nodded her head "I can't say come quickly." Cinder followed her into the room and then noticed that she hadn't changed before she came in, her father would know what she had been doing and that was bad. But there was nothing that she could do about it now. She went in and looked around there sat her father King Ky looking at her "Cinder, you are late where have you been? Cinder looked for her mother and found that she was not there. Where was she? where is moth..." King Ky shook his head "she is in her chamber she is not feeling well. your sister is in with her while I talk to you and your brother." Cinder looked at her brother, Hunter, who had come into the room, what did their father want with them? sit down this might take a while. Cinder sat down and her brother stood next to her chair "what do you have to tell us father?" King Ky looked at his children and frowned "she is dying . There is nothing that we can do to save her..."
"what does she have?" Cinder asked her voice trembling "she has the Hanu curse and there is not a cure that can be found." Cinder gasped. her mother was the most influential of all of the Fire nation. what would they do without her? "can we go in and see her?" Cinder asked Ky nodded "this might be the last time that she sees any of us again." Cinder and Hunter took hands and went into their mothers room, it was dark and a single candle lit the room "Mother?" Cinder called "is that you my children?" she asked "yes it is us." Hunter said "come closer so that I may see you." Hunter went to her and hugged her tightly "I love you mum I will always!" Grace looked at her son and smiled at him "protect your sister at all costs she holds the keys to the five kingdoms survival." Hunter looked at her and smiled not knowing what she meant but he would do it anyway. "that I will do." he said in a voice hardly above a whisper. Grace nodded "now leave us I need to talk to Cinder, before I go." Hunter nodded and left the room with tears in his eyes and he went back to their fathers side to wait for Cinder to finish. Cinder went to her mother's side and knelt before her "what do you want to tell me?" she asked "Cinder you have the power inside of you, your father tells you that it is nothing but the nervousness that you feel but it is the language of the fire nation speaking to you..." Cinder looked at her mother. "what...do you mean? All of the old stories that you told me are true? That there were really people that spoke the language of the fire and could shape it and mold it to their will?!" Grace looked at her "yes and you are one of the final ones that can have that knowledge inside of you, your father is scared of what it might do to you, but it is in your blood." her mother raised her head and waved her hand and fire erupted weakly into her hand and then flew to the fireplace kindling a small fire in its heart. "how did you do that? is that fire?"
"yes . you can learn it. there are some that have not forgotten the old ways. seek them out and you will find balance once again." Cinder looked at her mother and nodded "I am ready for it." she said. Grace handed her a book "This book will tell you all that you need, don't let your father see it or he will know what I have told you, you are a true star of Keld . I will miss you. I love you so very much. please keep in balance." Cinder looked at her mother and gasped. she was leaving her right this minute and there was nothing she could do. She was alone and no one was going to see her, her father had said that they where not to be seen because of the destruction that they had caused. Cinder looked at her mother as she took her last breath, this was the end of her, and the end of her legacy. King Ky walked into the room and stopped short and looked at her "what are you doing here?" he asked trying not to get mad at her. Cinder looked at him her eyes red and wet "she is gone father." she whispered and then stood there waiting for him to embrace her but he didn't and went to the bedside "Grace, you are the best thing that I have ever known, I love you and will always and forever." Cinder looked in her hands and found that the book was still there and her father was looking at her "what is that?" he asked Cinder could feel the anger seething off of him. Cinder looked down at the book, and then looked at her mother was this what she wanted? Should she keep it a secret for now, or should she tell him what she had said to her? Cinder stood and put the book under her arm and went out of the room, Hunter was there and looked at her "are you OK?" he asked. Cinder looked at him and nodded, not sure that she really was. Hunter looked at her and nodded "you have to go and get some sleep, that is an order." Cinder looked at him with her Grey eyes and smiled "thanks you are the best." he nodded and moved out of her way so that she could get to her door "i am always here for you Cinder. you know that don't you?!" she shook her head and smiled at him "yes I know that, you tell me that every day." he shut her door and she sighed a sigh of relief, what if he had seen the book under her arm and asked her about it and then gone and told their father, she would be ruined. Cinder went to her bed and sat down, it was only a matter of time before her father came in and took the book from her and so she waited, she waited for a long time and finally she put the book on her nightstand and curled up and tried to forget about what had happened with her mother, that she was really gone.
A few hours later she woke up and looked around her, she was still in her room but she was wide awake. Cinder looked at her window and smiled this was a full moon, it was her favorite time of the year and she wouldn't miss it for the whole world. Suddenly she felt a pain that she had never felt before and she gasped and curled up trying to get rid of it, what was it? She looked up and saw that a bright light was in her room and looking down at her "Beware, beware those who would take that you love from you and use it to their advantage..." Cinder looked about her what was that, and why did it come to her? Suddenly she lying on the floor in a cold sweat... alone, she was left alone with nothing but her thoughts. what was that and how was she to act upon that? This was only the beginning of what was to come, fires princess would rise and all would become how it should be. the prophecy would soon be fulfilled, but she had to remember who she was and what her purpose was. something would try to change her mind and make her forget the knowledge that her mother supplied her with. the language of fire. language that had been forgotten. The language that would come back and they would be powerful again. they would have the full knowledge of what the Fire Nation was all about. Power, strength, wisdom, wit unite patience, kindness, faith talent, and love. Cinder looked at herself in the mirror and smiled at herself. she was strong fifteen year old girl and she was ready for anything that the world put into her path. she would carry on her mother's legacy. her legacy, the legacy of the entire Fire Nation now fell into her hands. the destiny of the entire world now lay in her hands and in the hands of four others... four strangers that knew what her mother was talking about when she said that they were the chosen generation of the kingdoms. what was she talking about? Was this for real would the others want to come with her to wherever she was going? She didn't even know what, her mother had left her totally in the dark with what she needed to do except the book that she had in her room what was all the connection that she had to her mother and would this even work, would they listen to her?that she didn't know but she was willing to try. for her mother and her nation. she would try to find the others and put a stop to whatever was threatening them.
