Jade

"Come on lex, come to mammy" I cooed, opening my arms for Alexa to walk.
"go Lex, go Lex" Gabriel cheered, from behind me.
"Your almost there Alexa go to mum" Jed said, holding a hand behind her in case she fell.
"Is she doing it Mama?" Alfie asked looking up from his IPad.
"Uh huh!" I said, as she waddled into my lap "well done my big girl! Well done you!" I cheered, hugging her tight.
"Gosh she's growing up!" Jed said, as I popped her down and recorded her walking.
"I know, well that's going straight to insta!" I agreed, catching Alexa again, flopping back on the rug. I lifted her up above me and pulled a face at her earning a giggle, "look at those little legs"
"Mammy?" Gabriel asked, putting his head in front of Alexa so I could see him.
"Yes baba?" I said, lifting Alexa down onto my belly.
"Has Jesy had her baby yet?" He asked, drumming his hands on my head.
"Nope, she's not having it until after Christmas." I reminded him, sitting up, supporting a wiggling Alexa.
"Okay!" He said running off.
"Lexi-loo, you look ready for bed princess!" I cooed, seeing her being to rub her eye, her legs slowing down.
"Right on time" Jed chuckled, glancing at the clock that read half seven.
"That's ma girl, if I sort Lex out, can you start on the boys?" I asked him, standing up, resting Alexa-Mae on my hip.
"Course, love you muma" He said smacking my bum playfully.
"Love you dada" I replied, walking up the stairs, feeling Lex get gradually heavier. I reached her room and laid her on the change table. Once I had put her in a new nappy I scooped her back up and started swaying my body, singing her a lullaby, as she drank the bottle I had already got ready. Not even a third of the way through, she stopped sucking and drifted to sleep. I laid her down, kissed her head, turned the monitor on and left the room, closing the door too slightly.
As I walked back down the stairs I could hear my babies laughing with their dad, making my heart swell. Jed was fantastic with the kids when he was home, allowing me to have some time to myself. Over the past year I had had a difficult time. Unfortunately I fell into post natal depression about a month after Alexa was born. Jed was by my side the entire time, getting me to a therapist and picking up my medicine every time I needed it. I had slowly got better with his help and for that I was so grateful.
I walked down the stairs and wrapped my arms around him kissing his shoulder.
"Love you" I whispered, into his ear, looking over his shoulder to see our boys play fighting.
"I love you too my amazing wife" he said, turning and kissing me.
"Its nearly been a year since" I said, not able to finish my sentence, getting a lump in my throat.
"I know, and you've done fab Babe," he said, holding my face in his hands.
"I lub ooo Mama" I heard Alfie say, his he's appearing between us.
"I lub ooo too" I replied, kissing his head.
"What about me?" Gabe asked, his head appearing next to his Brother's.
"I lub ooo as well" I said, kissing his head too.
"Do you too lub me too?" Jed asked them with a pout.
"Yes daddy," they both said.
"Great, I think it's time for bed my boys" Jed said, picking Alfie up by his arm.
"Can you pick me up mam?" Fave asked as Jed bounded off with Alfie.
"Sure but a piggy back ride will have to do" I said crouching down so my oldest boy could crawl up.
"Ready?" I asked him, standing up.
"uh huh" Gabe answered and I launched off loudly saying "neeeeow, Gabe express coming through"
Once I for up stairs I put him down and let Jed get them ready. then we both tucked them up in bed and read a chapter of Harry Potter.
"Night boys" Jed said, kissing each of their heads.
"Night Dada" Alfie said, kissing Jed.
"Night night daddy" Gabriel said, snuggling his bear.
"Night Alf, I love you my clever boy" I said kissing his head, tucking the quilt up to his chin.
"Wub ooo mammy" Alfie replied, closing his eyes and drifting to sleep.
"Night night Gabriel, I love you to heaven above" I said like I do every night, standing on a stool to kiss his little head.
"Night mam, you're my hero." He said, as he fell asleep, which brought tears to my eyes.
I felt incredibly lucky to have a happy family who felt safe and loved, especially since not all families are happy and whole.
