"Guys!" Leigh shouted as she jumped into her chair in form time.
"What!" Her three friends responded not nearly as hyper as was.
"You all still up for the sleepover at mine?" She asked them, still really excited.
"I actually cannot wait, bring on the end of the day!"Jesy replied.
"Of course Lee-Lee!" Perrie replied
"Yep!" Jade agreed, not looking up from her physics homework, her left hand fiddling with Perrie's ring.
"Yay! Ok so are we meeting at our normal spot then?" Leigh asked them and they all hummed in response preoccupied by homework that was due for later on in the day or in Jade's case due in for the following Monday.
Just as she said that the shrill bell rang and they all packed up their stuff trundling along to their first class; art for Jade, textiles for Leigh-Anne, catering for Perrie and dance for Jesy.
The day rolled on by and the girls got gradually more excited about the up coming sleepover. By lunch time they could hardly contain their excitement and had to be told to quieten down several time bye the dinner staff in the canteen, causing an embarrassed blush to climb onto their faces, especially Jade's. After falling into another excited series of squeals they heard the bell ring and off they went once more, Jade and Leigh in set one maths and Perrie and Jesy in set three.
In no time they were rocking up to their meeting place outside of the canteen.
Once they were all there, "ready?" Leigh asked, they all nodded and started on their way home, Perrie and Jade intertwining their hands like always. They reached the corner where Jade and Perrie split off from Leigh and Jes, promising they'd meet up in half an hour with all the stuff they'd need for the most epic sleep over ever!
"Ready Jadey?" Perrie asked, still with their hands firmly laced together.
"Yup, but I'm a bit nervous Leigh and Jesy won't let me fall asleep, you know how they are at sleepovers." Jade admitted worried because she knew that Leigh and Jesy liked to stay up and she liked to fall asleep because of what he had engraved in her brain since she was tiny.
"I'll make sure they let you sleep baba, I think Leigh was saying somthing about us being in separate rooms so they could talk into the early hours and you could sleep without having an anxiety attack. Debbie made the choice" Perrie reassured, as they plodded down the street.
"What about you, I don't want you to miss out on their talks Perrie?" Jade asked concerned about her crush. Yep you read that right, crush. Jade didn't really know when I happened but it did. It was full on and the only person who knew was lopsy her little bunny teddy that was certain to join her at the sleepover later on.
"I'll be with you baba, I don't mind being with you! I prefer it if I'm honest! The other two can get a bit rowdy." Perrie admitted as they turned a corner and got onto the really long road that they both lived on.
"Ok." Jade said feeling more comfortable, milling over everything in her mind like always, over analysing everything she had said that day, making sure she had not said somthing more stupid than normal. Then she began to worry that she was being a burden and that her anxiety would always prevent her. So like normal she turned to her love and said, quieter than she wanted to, "Perrie?"
The blonde turned her head slightly and looked at her crush, the one she had had since she was 12, "hun?" She responded, noticing Jade's quiet tone, her hand instantly gripping tighter in comfort.
"Will I ever be better?" She asked quietly, casting her gaze down to the size four brogues that were so tattered but so comfy.
Perrie stopped them the moment Jade had uttered the words, turning to look at her best friend, taking her hands in her own, squeezing them lightly, "I promise you will Jade, I'm going to help you to. He's gone now Jade. It's going to get better. There will be good days and bad days. Leaps of progress and set backs. But I will never stop helping you ok?" She reassured, hugging Jade tightly, running her hand up and down her back. Little butterflies erupting in both girl's stomachs at the physical contact.
"Now lets go and I'll come in with you to get your stuff ok then you can come with me and I'll try to get Mam to not invade your space but I can't guarantee it, you know how Debbie is!" She joked after drawing herself out of the hug, linking their arms again, carrying on down the road.
Thirty-ish minutes later the two girls were at the corner, laden with bags and changed into comfier clothes. Jade feeling slightly less anxious but still anxious none the less, her fingers closing and opening once in a while trying to stop being nervous. Perrie noticed and grabbed her hand sending sparks up Jade's arm straight to her heart, that fluttered and soared at the simple gesture.
They spotted Jesy coming to meet them on the corner, laden with bags too, still chipper and excited, "ready to go girlies?" She asked as she reached the corner.
"Yep, is Leigh meeting us?" Perrie questioned under the impression that they were meeting her.
"No it makes sense her just meeting us at her house seen as that's our final destination!" The older girl responded, crossing the road with her friends on the way to Leigh-Anne's. "So are you excited?" She asked after a couple of strides.
"Yup!" Jade said sounding more enthusiastic.
"Of course I am Jes who do you take me for?" Perrie joked eliciting a giggle from Jade's mouth that made her heart soar and the brunette blush profusely.
"Ha ha ha very funny the real question is are you ready for the horror films?" Jesy asked, taking her jumper off in the stifling humidity that had descended on them in the last hour. Her statement caused Jade to squeak and squeeze Perrie's hand in fear.
The blonde noticing this quickly jumped in, squeezing Jade's hand back in reassurance, "there will be no horror movies until after we've fallen asleep because they're bloody scary!" Perrie countered, leaving Jade relived that she had left out the detail of Jade's anxiety.
"Fine!" Jesy said, huffing slightly but returning to her happy self moments later, as Leigh's house came into view.
Fast forward 6 hours
Jade yawned into Perrie's side, trying to stay awake watching mean girls. Perrie noticed and leant down to the younger girl's ear and whispered "you tired Baba?"
The brunette nodded and yawned again snuggling further into Perrie inhaling her sweet scent. Suddenly she blonde stretched and wiggled off the sofa taking a very sleepy Jade with her, calling goodnight to Leigh and Jesy who were switching the movies over.
"Come on then babe, let's get you all tucked up in bed then." Perrie softly enunciated, leading the brunette up the stairs into the spare bedroom where there were two beds set up.
In no time both of the girls were in their respective beds Perrie allowing the gentle patter of the rain on the window to lull her to sleep. Jade attempting to fall asleep, feeling a bit anxious, as she had had a lightning warning on her phone and was absolutely terrified of it. "Calm down Jade" she muttered to herself, attempting to relax enough so she could fall asleep, hugging lopsy as close to her chest as she possibly could. For the first time in a long time it worked and less than ten minutes later she was fast asleep, perhaps it was because of the blonde who was sleeping in the blow up bed next to her, perhaps it was somthing else. But Jade had fallen asleep in less than an hour for the first time in 4 years.
2 hours later.
*thunder* Jade shot up at the sound, completely and utterly terrified, squeezing lopsy tightly. It was as if her body knew what she needed because she was suddenly stood up shaking the blonde's shoulder, the tears still falling from her eyes, lopsy still squashed into her side.
"Jade?" Perrie asked, pealing open her eyes to see the tiny brunette quaking in her slippers, tears carving tracks down her cheeks like the rain that was trickling down the window, "what's wrong baba?" She asked, softly pulling her down, drawing her close.
"T-th-the l-li-lightnin-g, c-can I sleep in your b-bed?" she cried, burying her head further into Perrie's chest, as the blonde casually stroked her hair.
"Awe babe, its alright I'm here, of course you can, I wouldn't let you sleep on your own" she cooed, laying them down and pulling the covers over them, making sure Jade was turned away from the window.
*thunder* Jade squeaked, pushing herself closer to Perrie, the blonde allowing it, as she whispered sweet nothings into her ear.
"I love you Perrie" Jade whispered, all of the emotions so raw in that moment that it had just slipped out.
Perrie looked at the tiny Geordie in front of her in shock, knowing what context the smaller one had meant it in. The brown eyed girl cowered away, hating herself for saying it, knowing Perrie would never feel that way, tears slipping from her eyes again, knowing that the blonde would never ever feel the same.
But before she could stutter anything to apologise, the blonde crashed her lips into her's, applying just the right about of pressure that the brown-haired girl wouldn't feel scared but would still feel all the passion. Tingles travelled down her body, feeling Jade kiss back, her hands snaking around Perrie's neck, joining at the back in the blonde's bed head. Perrie's hand placed on Jade's cheek wiping away the tears that had fallen in fear of being rejected.
They breathlessly pulled away and Perrie stared into the no longer scared eyes of Jade, melting into them, "I love you too Jadey, I always have" she whispered pulling her back in, smashing their lips tighter tightly, the lighting forgotten in the connection of two thunderstruck, love filled hearts.
Maybe thunderstorms weren't the worst thing in the world after all!
