"Hey, you alright Renée?" Zephyrine's concerned voice echoed through the bathroom while she knocked at the door.

Renée wiped the salty mess on her cheeks, and tried to reply in an even tone,

"Yeah, I'm okay" but it ended up sounding croaky.

"Open the door" Zephyrine ordered with a sense of authority, Renée couldn't refuse as it would give her away.

Zephyr scanned her face and she knew; the look on her face said so. Of course, Renée's eyes must have been red with the crying. But Zephyr didn't ask anything, choosing not to dive deeper into the matter.

"Hey, are you up for a party? All my cousins are going" she asked, grinning while her eyes shined. They both knew they were ignoring the obvious, that something was wrong with Renée, that maybe she was about to do the most dangerous action if not for Zephyr knocking away on the door, but they also knew that ignorance would be bliss at that moment. Renée wanted to stop thinking, elope from the confusing mess her mind was stuck in and a party sounded great at the time.

"Sure" she said, smiling, even though the last time she had gone to a party, it didn't turn out well. She simply didn't care. Besides, what was the worse thing that could happen? She would die? She laughed out loud at the thought.
