Zephyrine kept trying to talk to Renée for the next hour in an enthusiatic tone, striking topics after topics of interest as the conversation was clearly dying from Renée's side. She found it odd for her to act so lively while her grandmother was sick, but then again some people simply didn't like to display their sorrow. She kept her answers short, even though she was finding it difficult to not get lost in Zephyr's charm. She reminded Renée of her best friend who had helped her cope when they had moved to Paris for two and a half years when she was eleven.
"and do you know what happened before recess..." Renée whispered to Ciara.
"Renée, who are you talking to?" Adalie, her mother, asked opening the door wide while she scanned the room.
"no...nobody Mommy" Renée lied, stuttering.
"Renée, do you have a phone?" her mother enquired with her eyes narrowed.
"What? No, Mommy! How will I get a phone? I swear I don't have one" she exclaimed.
"Then who is it?" she asked again.
"I was talking to myself! Just leave me alone!" she cried, Adalie's eyebrows rose up at her tone but she left as Nathan called for her.
Renée sighed, it was a close call. She couldn't let anybody know about her imaginary best friend, Ciara. She didn't want others to befriend her, she was Renée's secret. She was someone she could have all for herself.
