A few weeks after Renée had met Ciara, she was feeling very lonely. It was sports day and she had badly embarassed herself in front of the whole school by falling down during the race, scraping her knee and soiling her dress. The laughter of the students from the bleachers echoed through her eardrums.
Renée's best friends of elementary school, Bella and Gabriel had broke off their friendship that day as she was apparently too dirty. It was the worst day of the year for her. She wanted to discuss the latest episode of Spongebob with someone and share her new toys. She wanted a friend. But there was nobody. She was missing the presence of somebody.
Suddenly, an idea struck her. She remembered Ciara, the girl with the bright green eyes whom she had met at the fair. That day, Renée made a new friend. It was Ciara, her imaginary friend.
