The guy returned a few minutes later as promised, Renée immediately left to find Zephyr, without giving him a glance. She had strayed from her path, she couldn't do this. The party was booming with music and sweaty people as Renée squeezed her way through, when a girl crashed into her, spreading a pink drink all over her dress.
"Oh my God! I'm really sorry!" a familiar voice squealed. Renée removed her attention from the stained dress only to be shocked beyond words to see her ex-best friend, Chloë
"Chloë?" she gasped.
"Renée?" they said at the same time.
"What are you doing here?" Chloë asked.
"What are you doing here?"Renée said, ignoring her question, unable to believe that she would meet Chloë across the country in a random party, her heart beating rapidly.
"Well, I was here on a road trip with the squad, but you...You do know that your brother came to me looking for you, don't you?" she enquired, eyeing her up and down, squinting her eyes in a funny way.
"Yeah I know. I'm sorry he bothered you" Renée said, trying to play it cool, before she realized she uttered a contradictory sentence right after involuntarily, "How is he?"
"Wait, why are you asking me that? I thought maybe you had gone somewhere and he was being his overprotective self. But again, what are you doing here?"
"None of your business,Chloë!" she said, realizing she had to get out of there.
