October 15, 1957
Jackie sighed as she looked across the table at her husband,"I wish you didn't have to go Jack."
Jack clasped her hand in his,"I'm so sorry Jackie, but it's urgent, please understand."
Jackie sighed and looked downward for a moment and with her free hand quickly wiped a tear from her eye.
"Jackie."
She closed her eyes as she felt Jack squeeze her hand.
"Jackie look at me."
Jackie took a deep breath and did what he asked.
"Remember Kid." Jack said with a soft smile,"Kennedy's don't cry."
"Must you leave though Jack?"
He sighed,"Jackie I've already told you, this is a big step for my career and it will help win the presidency."
Jackie bit her tongue before it said how it wouldn't help win his children's love.
"How long will you be gone." she said, not looking him in the eye.
He took sighed.
That wasn't a good sign.
"A month."
She felt her mouth open in shock.
"A month?"
"Look Jacks-" Jack was trying to tilt her chin up but she shrugged away from him.
"Jackie..."
"I'll leave you to your work." Jackie stood from her chair in his study and walked out purposefully, hearing her husbands sigh from behind her.
