Whenever they could meet, the two again ate the food that Macrae brought, then spent the day playing together. Macrae showed Elspeth how to skip rocks, and tried to teach her some songs that she'd learned from the sailors. Elspeth had a good voice, that was certain, but she always sang the notes in the wrong order.
"What are some things that you do for fun?" She tried after they'd run out of rocks and teaching stopped being fun. Elspeth looked very thoughtful for a while.
"We swim; we hunt; we play feluleikur-"
"Feel-oo-acre?" Macrae butchered. "What's that?"
"Feluleikur," Elspeth corrected. "We hide, and someone comes and finds us."
"OH! I love that game. We call it Hide-and-Seek."
So they played the game until Macrae knew she had to go. She promised she'd be back eventually.
