Elspeth felt the pain immediately, like a hot knife had been buried in her back. She knew at once that someone had stolen her cloak. Fear seized her so completely, she forgot how to breath. One of the Cloakless men holding her sneered. "Looks to me like he found it, lucky bastard. Guess that means you belong to him." Despite her strength, she could no longer fight them. Elspeth could not stop the tears flowing down her cheeks.
She had been burned.
