"ELSPETH!" Macrae didn't even know she was shouting, running, until she had stopped in the sand in front of the Selkie. She didn't know what to do, what to say. More acurately, she didn't know where to start.
"I love you," drifted through her mind, but Macrae forced that thought away. One step at a time, she had to remind herself.
They were silent for a number of moments before "You grew up," sounded from Elspeth. Macrae couldn't contain her laughter, and laughed so hard she nearly dropped all the bread she had brought.
"Well, of course I did. You did to." Elspeth blinked as if she hadn't consider this thought, then herself began to laugh. She's not sure when, but Macrae joined back in. They laughed then talked until their throats were dry, and everything was as it had been.
