Macrae did not come back until a week later. Elspeth immediately collected Macrae's shawl from the bush and gave it back.
"Oh, than-thank you." The Cloakless seemed genuinely confused. Had her parents really raised her this innocently?
"You have to take care of it," Elspeth insisted. "Someone could take it." At her tone, Macrae nodded solemnly.
