Song: Wolves by Selena Gomez & Marshmellow
'Hey'
'Hey, Rya?'
'Rya!'
Rya sucked in a sharp breath as she looked up from the microscope lens, through which she was supposed to be analyzing a blood culture, 'yes, I'm sorry, what?' She asked, glancing at her colleague who was standing not too far away from her, in front of the touch screen computer system in which they entered patients lab work and results.
Small frown lines furrowed her brows as she shot Rya an odd look, 'are you alright?' she asked, 'took you a while to hear me calling your name.'
Rya nodded, 'I'm fine, I just...' she sighed, 'I have a lot on my mind today, that's all.'
The girl nodded and resumed tapping away at the computer screen, 'I was saying that I'm going out for lunch, will you be alright here by yourself for a bit?'
Rya glanced around at the highly equipped, state of the art laboratory, currently occupied by a couple other coworkers who were quietly working on their medical samples. and nodded, 'yes, I'll be fine, any questions I may have can wait till you get back.'
'Alright,' the girl, who Rya had been assigned to shadow for the week, nodded, finished up what she was doing on the computer and left the room.
Returning her attention to the task in front of her, Rya attempted to focus once again, on her work, but she gave up moments later, when it became painfully obvious, that she too, needed a break.
She stepped away from her work space, and took off her rubber gloves, eye shield and lab coat before retrieving her phone from where she had left it on a nearby table and retreating to an even more secluded corner of the laboratory.
It was almost a week now, since she'd seen or heard from Derek after the night they had spent together, and also since Will had confronted her about their relationship.
She'd felt restless, since then, wary of making a decision she knew she would eventually have to make, and frustrated by the thoughts that churned constantly within her mind, thoughts that she kept coming back to over and over again, and questions that caused her to lose focus, like she had just moments ago, as she'd gaze unseeing into a microscope, unaware of the person who'd been trying to gain her attention.
Will was right, she needed to make a decision, and in order to do that, she would need answers to the questions in her head.
Quite frankly, she didn't know how she could choose between the two gorgeous, successful men, in her life, one of whom wanted something more with her, something serious, something...steady, while the other...
She didn't know what Derek wanted, didn't know what she was to him, what they were.
It was all too confusing especially since relationships and drama weren't exactly her thing, which was probably the reason why the few relationships she'd attempted to engage in in the past hadn't worked out.
She didn't know what she wanted.
And now, faced with Wills ultimatum, she had lost count of the times she'd asked herself that question.
She hadn't seen or spoken with him either since their last awkward conversation, but she at least knew that he was waiting for her to take the next step.
She had to make a move, but what did she want, and why hadn't Derek kept in touch after their night together?
She'd seen his picture in one of the gossip magazines online, who'd managed to take a photo of him in Paris just two days ago, and she couldn't help wondering why he hadn't mentioned his trip. She was well aware that their relationship wasn't a serious one by any means yet, but still, a call or a simple text message would have been enough for her.
