Two weeks later
Rya turned over, subconsciously reaching across to the other side of the massive king sized bed, but her eyes popped open when she encountered nothing but the coolness of silk sheets.
She sighed and sat up, stretching as she looked around the expansive room. The flowy white curtains were still drawn but from the daylight shining through, she knew she'd overslept.
Glancing beside her at the bedside table, she picked up her phone and checked the time, it was 8.56am, she gave another sigh and relaxed, she wasn't expected at the hospital until 1.00pm for the afternoon shift.
She checked her missed call log and text messages, quickly responding to several messages from her mom who wanted to know when she was coming home to visit, if she'd spoken to her brother recently and if they were planning another surprise birthday party this year for her upcoming birthday the following month.
There were several missed calls from Will and a text message from him asking her to return his call and Kris had also called and left a message reminding her that a mobile phone was called 'mobile' for a reason and that she needed to speak to Rya urgently.
The last and most recent message was from Derek who said he'd had an early business meeting scheduled and didn't want to wake her, he, however, promised to check in on her later in the day, and insisted she call him if she felt unusually sore and/or tired after waking up.
He'd given her a key to his apartment the week before, and the more time she spent there, the more familiar she became with the place.
She'd been surprised to see how huge the place was when they'd finally taken time for him to show her around, and, considering the size of the apartment, it hadn't surprised her to learn that each apartment in the building occupied an entire floor.
His apartment contained five bedrooms, four baths, a living room, kitchen, dining area just off the living area, and a wraparound terrace.
The rooms were all similar in design, and featured high ceilings, large walk-in closets and an entire wall built with glass.
Getting out of bed she dialled Will's number, deciding that she would find Kris later after she resumed her shift, she couldn't begin to recall the number of times she'd received an SOS message from Kris that had eventually turned out to be nothing, and seeing as they were all on the same shift pattern that week, it would be much easier to find her and get to the root of her matter, whatever it was this time around.
Will didn't pick up and she decided she'd find him later, at the hospital too.
She winced as she stretched, feeling the soreness, between her legs, which Derek had been referring to, however, the delicious ache she also felt there more than made up for the slight discomfort.
