Days passed after the Potters, along with Sirius, visited the Thompson's and they were already back in school. They thought they would have some time to catch up with friends without having to worry about exams and homework, but boy did they think wrong. As fast as they arrived at the castle they were bombarded with homework, plus the usual pressure of having to do well on exams and it became too much for students, that even if O.W.L's and N.E.W.T's were months away, you could see numerous students having mental breakdowns in hallways or being sent to the hospital wing. This was no different for the sixth years, even if N.E.W.T's were a year away they could still feel the pressure and the hawk eyes of professors when taking their classes.
One of the many stressed out students was Noelle Moon. She tended to study way before exams were even upon them and she would become a total maniac studying, bringing her closest friends to study with her, but they always gave up for they could not keep up with her methods. At these times it was better to leave the girl alone, she knew herself well enough to know her limits and everyone was aware of that. But on this day, Noelle was less freantic than ever and seemed far more grumpy and sharp than usual. The reason was quite simple, really.
She was on her monthlies.
Yes, magic was wonderful, but there was only so much it could do. It all started when she was thirteen, she was taking Muggle studies because she still saw it as important, she liked knowing what was going on and she knew what being on your period meant. It was very sudden really, she was taking Transfiguration with the Gryffindors when she felt it. She had gotten up and walked to professor McGonagall who stared at her pointedly and told the woman what was going on, she only nodded and told her to go to the hospital wing. As she walked out the door, she prayed to Merlin that it hadn't seeped through her clothe, because she knew that if James Potter found out he would've teased her endlessly. When she got the hang of it she started getting cramps and at first she would take muggle pain killers, seeing as they didn't work she went to Madame Pomfrey and asked for some sort of remedy. Pomfrey gave her a potion that worked on her body and fully eliminated the cramps, that did not last for long. She grew accustomed to the potion so much that her body let it pass as if it were water. Noelle got cramps again.
So this was the reason why Noelle was wincing and moaning silently as she felt her uterus tearing itself apart, while being in a secluded corner of the library with books and parchment spread across the table. Currently her forehead was pressed against the cool wood of the table as she clutched her lower stomach. This was the way Sirius Black found her and he immediately got worried, as he thought she was crying.
Quickly he ran and sat next to her lowering his head to whisper "Are you okay? Did someone hurt you?"
Startled Noelle looked up only to wince as she met Sirius' face "Not really".
Getting the wrong idea, he frowned at her "Is it because I'm here?"
She chuckled lightly and shook her head "Don't be silly. It's not because of that".
"Well, what is it?"
"You're going to laugh like the git you are sometimes" she rolled her eyes before placing her forehead against the table once more.
"Try me"
"I'm in my monthlies" she turned a bit to see his reaction and was met with a blank expression.
"You're on your period" he reiterated.
"That's what I said" she glumly responded as she winced again.
"Well then why haven't yo drank a potion for the cramps. I mean they're pretty awful aren't they?" he seemed so concerned that Noelle was caught off guard and stared at him with wide eyes. Sirius could only roll his eyes at her "Look, I may seem really daft but I know about this stuff. Have you forgotten that my cousins are all females? I mean, Bellatrix became a full monster while on her period, Andromeda and I would say that someone had stolen the Hungarian Horntail's egg"
