Malia jumped in her chair as she looked behind her only to be met with no one. Thinking she was crazy and lacking sleep, she turned around in her chair and jumped once more when she met the face of her boyfriend Nicolas who was casually centimeters away from her face.
"For the mother of Merlin, what in the hell are you doing Nico?" she whispered with a hand to her chest, trying to calm her rapid heart, though if it was from the scare or the close proximity of her boyfriend she did not know.
"Saying hi to my girlfriend, what else am I doing?" he scoffed as if insulted and kissed her lightly on the lips before plopping gracefully onto the chair in front of her.
"Oh really? Because for a second there I thought you were trying to give me a heart attack."
"You've been doing that to me since I met you, so I had to get back at you somehow." for a second Malia was confused until he gave her a cheeky smile.
"Wait a minute."

As smart as Malia Kingsley was, she was quite oblivious to other things going on around her. For years people had hinted at liking her, but she never noticed or analyzed their words. Some times they would send her gifts and she thought it was from her parents or that it was sent to her by mistake, meaning it was for one of her roommates. This was the reason why Nicolas had to be as clear as possible when confessing he had a crush on her all those years back, because otherwise she wouldn't have known he was slowly falling in love with her.
"You mean that in a romantic way don't you?" she squinted her eyes at him and he laughed his tinkling laugh.

"Yes." he smiled at her propping his chin on the top of his hand.
"Oh." she blushed and returned to the countless parchment scattered around her.
"What are you doing anyways?" he asked curiously as he took some of the parchment and his eyes skimmed over it.
"It's for the masquerade ball, you know how excited Lily is with it all and she asked if I could see how much it would cost us to get it done."
