"Are you okay my angel?" Sam cracks the door open and I don't look up, my body limps as I stared depressingly at the mirror. No wings. They were gone and I felt like a monster, an abomination, I was cast out. I was cold and hungry but I didn't want to stop looking at the empty shell in front of me. I had no grace and I wondered what my soul looked like, but I'd never find out now.

"Come on I have something that might help you feel better," Sam said and walked over to me, "it'll help you get used to being human. Gotta come to the conclusion soon enough, you're a human now." I nodded and looked up at him, I felt guilty when I saw the hurt on his face. I was abandoning him and he was my love, I suddenly felt so incredibly bad for what I was doing. Moping. I stood up and pulled him into a tight hug, he almost fell back and he chuckled slightly. He wrapped his arms around me and my tears drenched his shirt, I ran my hands up and down his back and along with his shoulders.

"Sam I'm so sorry," I said, "with all my moping I've been neglecting you. I love you so much you're my everything I'm sorry I've been like this."

"It's okay you've been through so much I don't blame you Gabriel," he said and rubbed my back comfortingly.

"Could I make it up to you by doing whatever it is you wanted to do today?" I asked and hugged him tighter, I suddenly realized I had limited strength now. It made my lungs freeze for awhile so I let out a shaky breath.

"Get you a tattoo of your wings on the back of your neck," Sam explained, "it's painful to get a tattoo which is where the human experience. Plus it's a memorial and it's an important part of you."

"You're an important part of me," I responded quickly before thinking.

"Don't get my name tattooed on you," Sam laughed and I shook my head.

"Of course not," I laughed. I pulled out of our embrace and I grabbed both sides of Sam's face, bringing him down to connect our lips. It lasted a long time, I hadn't kissed him in a long time it had to have been 2 weeks or more because before my wings we could barely keep our lips off each other. It raised my happiness a bit more kissing him again, it reminded me of the last time I was happy.

"I love you Sam," I said and he smiled.

"I love you too my angel," Sam said and pushed some of my hair from my face, "I can't help you and I am so worried because you need to eat and take care of yourself now."

"Don't be," I smiled at him the best I could, "I'm trying my hardest to get used to it I really am."

"I've been human for decades I may know a thing or two," Sam said and I kissed him again, "let's go and get you food first."

...

"Thank you for taking me out," Gabriel said as I handed the waitress the check.

"Not a problem," Sam smiled and rested an arm on the table, "I get to see your pretty face while I eat so I win too you know."

"I feel like we haven't talked like this in so long," I sighed sadly.

"It's okay it's because of your accident I understand," Sam says.

"It makes me feel one hundred times better," I smile at him.

"Ready to go get stabbed repeatedly with a bunch of needles?" Sam asked me with a sarcastic smile and I nodded before we stood up and left.

...

"This won't be that bad right?" I worried as we stood at the front counter waiting for someone, I was clutching a piece of paper in my hand.

"You're fine it's not that bad," Sam rolled his eyes and laughed at me.

"Hey what can I do for you guys?" The woman at the front desk smiled, she had long orange hair and freckles. She had tattoo sleeves on both of her arms and a very small cupcake tattoo under her eye, she had a toothful smile and her teeth were perfectly straight.
