"She put him out like the burnin' end of a midnight cigarette

She broke his heart he spent his whole life tryin' to forget

We watched him drink his pain away a little at a time

But he never could get drunk enough to get her off his mind

Until the night

He put that bottle to his head and pulled the trigger

And finally drank away her memory

Life is short but this time it was bigger

Than the strength he had to get up off his knees

We found him with his face down in the pillow

With a note that said "I'll love her 'til I die"

And when we buried him beneath the willow

The angels sang a whiskey lullaby"

Gabriel's voice was perfect, tears rolled down Sam's face silently as he listened to the angel sing quietly. His head was pressed against the smaller angel's chest, he sat between his legs and wrapped his arms around Gabriel's torso. Gabriel pushed Sam's hair from his face with the lightest, most caring touch.

"The rumors flew, but nobody knew how much she blamed herself

For years and years she tried to hide the whiskey on her breath

She finally drank her pain away a little at a time

But she never could get drunk enough to get him off her mind

Until the night

She put that bottle to her head and pulled the trigger

And finally drank away his memory

Life is short but this time it was bigger

Than the strength she had to get up off her knees

We found her with her face down in the pillow

Clinging to his picture for dear life

We laid her next to him beneath the willow

While the angels sang a whiskey lullaby"

There were footsteps coming toward the room, Sam didn't open his eyes at all. Dean had walked in, smiled sadly at Gabriel, and left the room without a word. Gabriel pressed a kiss to the top of Sam's head, slowly moving to not disturb his relaxed state. Despite the crying, his eyes were closed and he looked utterly peaceful.

"Where's Jess?" Sam asked quietly and opened his eyes, Gabriel felt the weight of Sam's pain in his heart. Gabriel didn't know what to say, he didn't know how to respond.

"Where's Gabriel?" Sam asked with a crack in his voice this time. He tightened his grip on Gabriel's shirt and a few sobs ripped through him.

"Sam I'm here," Gabriel whispered and started stroking Sam's hair gently.

"Don't let them take you," he whispered and held onto Gabriel with a death grip, "they won't take you too please." He begged and gripped so hard I thought for a moment I couldn't breathe, I took a shaky breath and laid my head on his.

"I'm not going anywhere," Gabriel said seriously.

"But-"

"Sam I'm not going anywhere," he said with sternness in his voice, "I promise."

"Gabriel I love you," he said almost silently. Gabriel barely heard him.

"I love you too," Gabriel smiled a little, "rest we've got another day tomorrow. And I promise I'll be there."
