Muscle Memory

I know a girl with a heart of gold
Whose eyes hide sadness

They all say she seems sweet but I know she tastes bitter

Her words leak love but her voice cries "Please save me"

I can't save her; if I ever said I could-I lied
She could do it if only she tried

Her hands hold shape but I know they're limp

She still stands and moves forward
Some call it her strong will
I know it's just muscle memory

Some say she's healthy but I know she's not well
People love her smile but I know it's just a shell
