"Right then, Charlie boy, I've just got to go into my um...shed." The Doctor said as we approached the TARDIS. "Won't be long."

"So...what's next for Charles Dickens?" I asked.

"I shall take the mail-coach back to London, quite literally post-haste. This is no time for me to be on my own. I shall spend Christmas with my family and make amends to them. After all I've leanred tonight, there can be nothing more vital." I smiled.

"You've cheered up." The Doctor pointed out.

"Exceedingly. This morning, I thought I knew everything in the world. Now I know I've just started. All these huge and wondeful notions, Doctor! I'm inspired, I must write about them!"

"Do you think that's wise?" Rose asked.

"I shall be subtle at first. The Mystery of Edwin Drood still lacks an ending. Perhaps the killer was not the boy's uncle. Perhaps he was not of this earth. The Mystery of Edwin Drood and The Blue Elementals! I can spread the word, tell the truth."

"Good luck with it." The Docotr shook his hand. "Nice to meet you, fantastic."

'Bye then, and thanks." Rose and The Doctor stepped into the TARDIS, leaving me alone with Charles.

"I suppose I have you to thank, Katherine. You opened my eyes." I smiled.

"I think you always knew it, CHarles. YOu just need a shove in the right direction."

"Regardless, I would like to thank you for inspiring my change of perspective."

"It was my pleasure." He kissed my hand.

"Look after those two, Katherine. It's clear to me that they need you." I furrowed my eyebrows.

"How so?"

"They're so stubbourn the both of them. There has to be balance. That's where you come in." I shook his hand.

"Good luck to you, Charles. Merry Christmas!"

"And Merry Christmas to you."

"But, I don't understnad. In what way is this goodbye? Where are you going? What are they doing in there?"

"Oh, you'll see. If you loved tonight, you're going to love this."

"Wait, one more thing." I stopped. "You and the Doctor...you have such knowledge of future times. Tell me...my books...do they last."

"Of course they do! It would be a travesty for them not to!"

"How long?" I grabbed his hands in both of mine.

"Forever." I winked at him, stepping into the TARDIS and shutting the door. "Off we go, Doctor. Let's blow Charlie's mind." I ran over to the monitor, watching Charles' face as we took off. I smiled. Once we were gone, I looked up to see that Rose was gone. "Where'd she go?"

"Change. Then she's off to bed. Needed a bit of a rest." I nodded.

"Understandable." I removed my hat and took my hair down, shaking it out. I then removed my dress to reveal my skirt and my t-shirt. The Doctor laughed.

"What? Had to keep a piece of myslef, didn't I?" He smiled.

"I suppose so. Can I talk to you about something?" He asked. I picked up my dress, tossing it on the jumps eat.

"Of course." He sighed.

"Before  I left her...Gwyneth told me something. She said that the reason taht you've been confused about how you feel about me is that you didn't feel like you were good enough." I bit my lip, averting my eyes to the floor. "Katherine, is that true?"

"Maybe a bit.' I muttered.

"How in the world could you ever think that?" i sighed, covering my face with my hands.

"Because I was an accident." I looked up at him. "I was never meant to run away with you. You didn't want me here per say and...I just feel...sometimes...like maybe you'd be better off...without me."

"You're kidding. Katherine, you saved our lives today. You made Charles Dickens feel alive again." I laughed. "I thought we were going to die, but you refused to give up hope, and in turn you saved our lives. Consider all of that...and then tell me if I'm better of without you. So maybe you coming along was an accident," he tucked my hair behind my ear. "But it was the most fantastic accident that I have ever experienced in all of my life."

"Shut up." I mumbled.

"Make me." I smiled at him.

"That can be arranged." I put my hands on his face, standing on my toes and kissing him. His hands found my waist and he kissed me back. I didn't get to properly enjoy it the first time. The feeling of his mouth pressed against mine. The warmth of his hands. The old leather smell of his jacket. I wrapped my arms around his neck, my mouth moving slowly against his. His arms wrapped completely around me, pressing me against him, and all the feelings about him taht'd built up over hundreds of years were welling up inside me. I pulled away, leaning my forehead against his.  We stood there for a moment, breathing in each other's air.

"Maybe you should make me shut up more often." I rolled my eyes, shoving him as I pulled away from him.

"You're an idiot."

"Oi! Am not!"

"And...he's back. It's weird, you're so cute until you open your mouth."

"Cute?" he asked. "I'm cute?"

"Adorable."

"I'm not cute! A...puppy is cute, I am not cute."

"Oh, Doctor...you're my little puppy dog."

"Stop it."

"Does that make you the Dogtor?"

"Stop it. Stop it now." He stepped up close to me.

"Or what?" I asked dangerously.

"Or..." I stood on my toes again, my nose brushing against his.

"That's what I thought." I whispered. I turned around, but his arms wrapped around my waist, pulling me so that my back was against his chest. I looked up at him. "Hi."

"Hi."
