Jack took us to the crash site, which was surrounded by barbed wire and armed guards.
"There it is. Hey, they've got Algy on duty. It must be important."
"Are the words 'distract the guard' heading in Katherine and I's general direction?" Rose questioned.
"I don't think that'd be such a good idea." Jack answered.
"Don't worry. I can handle it."
"I've got to know Algy quite a bit since I've been in town. Trust me, you're not his type. I'll distract him. Don't wait up." I rasied my eyebrows.
"Relax, he's a fifty-first century guy. He's just a bit more flexible when it comes to dancing."
"How flexible?"
"Let's not go into that." I said, shaking my head. "Long story short, humans had spread across the galaxy by his time."
"Meaning?"
"So many species, so little time." The Doctor answered.
"What, that's what we do when we get out there? We seek new life and..."
"Dance." We said together. We watched as Jack approached him and they started talking. He fell to his knees, and his face started morphing grotesquely into a gas mask. I put my hand over my mouth.
"Stay back!' The Doctor warned the other soldiers, running over, followed by Rose and I.
"You men, stay away." Jack told them.
"The effects becoming air-borne, accelerating."
"What's keeping us safe?" Rose asked.
"Nothing." Suddenyl the air raid sirens went off.
"Ah, here we come again." I looked at Jack.
"Didn't you say a bomb was going to drop onto the transporter?" I asked, recalling our negotiation.
"Never mind about that. If the contaminants airborne now, there's hours left."
"For what?"
"Till nothing, forever. For the entire human race." I furrowed my eyebrows as the sound of rock-a-bye baby filled my ears.
"Does anyone else hear singing?" I asked. we made our way over to one of the buildings, and the Doctor opened the door, poking his head in. The singing continued and he crept inside, allowing me to follow him in. I saw a girl with dark hair chained to a table, next to a gas masked soldier. He soniced the handcuffs, letting her out, and we got out of the building as quickly as possible.
Jack and the Doctor went over to the transporter, pulling the tarp off, and Rose and I stood with the girl.
"What's your name?" I asked.
"Nancy." She answered.
"I'm Katherine, this is Rose."
"The Doctor mentioned he had a girl." She told me. I furrowed my eyebrows.
"You two know each other?" I asked. She nodded.
"We met. The boy...he's my little brother."
"Always 'Are you my Mummy?'. Like he doesn't know. Why doesn't he know?"
"There are these children, living rough around the bomb sites. They come out during air raids looking for food."
"You see? Just an ambulance."
"That's an ambulance?" Nancy asked.
"It's hard to explain. IT's from another world." Rose replied.
