It wasn't long before Rose wanted to stop back home.The TARDIS landed in the same alley taht we last parked in and the three of us stepped out of the TARDIS. Rose looked around and the Doctor and I leaned against it.
"How long have I been gone?" She asked.
"About twelve hours." She laughed.
"Oh. Right, I won't be long. I just want to see my mum."
"Get some clothes while you're at it!" I called.
"What're you gonna tell her?" The Doctor asked.
"I don't know. That I've been to the year five billion and only been gone what, twelve hours? No, I just, tell her I spent the night at Shareen's. See you later! Don't you two disappear."
I grabbed the Doctor's hand, intertwining our fingers and we stated walking slowly around the alley. The Doctor stopped.
"What? What's wrong?" I asked. He pulled me over to a pole where a flyer was fluttering in the wind, held down only by staples. Rose's picture was plastered on the front. Along with the words 'Have You Seen Her?'.
"Oh no..." I pulled him towarsd the building, running at full speed. We burst into the room to see Rose hugging her mum. "So, tiny problem, it's not twelve hours. It's um...twelve months." I corrected.
"You've been gone a whole year. Sorry"
~~~
"The hours I sat here! Days and weeks and months, all on my own! I thought you were dead! And where were you? Travelling! What the heck does that mean, travelling?! That's no sort of answer! You ask her, she won't tell me." Jackie instructed the police officer. "That's all she says, 'travelling'."
"That's what I was doing."
"Well your passport's still in the drawer! It's just one lie after another!"
"I meant to phone, I really did. I just...If forgot." Rose mumbled.
"What, for a year?! You forgot for a year?! And I am left sitting here! I just don't believe you! Why won't you tell me where you've been!?"
"Actually it's our fault." I stated. "We sot of um...employed Rose as our companion."
"When you say companion is this a-"
"Don't." I cut him off. "I know where you're going with that, the answer is just...no. Don't go there."
"Then what is it!?" Jackie shouted. "Because you two waltz in here, all charm and smiles, and the next thing I know, she vanishes off the face of the Earth! How old are you then? Forty, Forty-Five?! What, did you find her on the Internet! Go online and pretend you're a doctor! I'll bet that's where you found Katherine, where's her mum?!"
"I am a doctor." He replied.
"Prove it. Stitch this, mate." She smacked him across the face.
"Realistically...he probably deserved that." The Doctor looked at me. I shrugged.
~~~
The policeman left and Rose and Jackie stepped into the kitchen.
"So...twelve months?"
"Shut up." He said.
"Twelve months Doctor. You always say, 'I stole the TARDIS, I'll fly it how I want'. Well, you flying it how you want led is to a sobbing, distraught mother and a slap in the face for you." He shook his head. "And they thought I was one of your victims."
"Shut up twice. We're almost the same age." I shrugged.
"Apparently it doesn't look it." He rolled my eyes and I smirked at him. "For the record...I like how you look."
"Do you now?" I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"I do indeed...grandad." I kissed him breifly, pulling away from him and dragging him out the door and up the stairs.
"Where are we going?"
"To the roof."
~~~
"I can't tell her. I can't even begin. She's never gonna forgive me." Rose said. We sat on the roof, Rose and I sitting on an elevated part and the Doctor standing in front of it. "And I missed a year. Was it good?"
"Middling." The Doctor replied.
"You're so useless."
"Well if it's this much trouble, are you gonna stay here now?" She sighed.
"I don't know. Can't do that to her again, though."
"Well she's not coming with us." He stated. Rose laughed.
"No chance!"
"We don't do families."
"She slapped you!" Rose pointed out. I laughed.
"Nine hundred years of time and space and I've never been slapped by someone's mother."
"Surely you've been slapped though. That mouth of yours gets you into trouble." I pointed out.
"Your face."
"It hurt!"
"When you say nine hundred years..."
"That's how old we are." I told her, leaning around the Doctor.
"You're nine hundred years old?"
"Yeah. Well, technically I'm nine hundred years old. Katherine is eight hundred and ninety-eight."
"My mum was right, that is one heck of an age gap." She got off of the elevated part, walking around. "Every conversation with you two just goes mental. There's no one else I can talk to. I've seen all that stuff up there, the size of it, and I can't say a word. Aliens and spaceships and things and I'm the only person on Planet Earth who knows they exist." A large buzz sounded and we looked back, seeing a giant spaceship overhead. The Doctor grabbed my waist, pulling me to the ground. When we stood up, we saw smoke rising from the direction of the spaceship.
"So much for that theory." I told Rose.
"Oh, that's just not fair." The Doctor laughed, grabbing our hands and taking off down the stairs.
~~~
We ran up to a traffic jam, stopped up by a giant army truck guarded by red berets.
"It's blocked off." The Doctor pointed out.
"We're miles from the centre. The city must be gridlocked. The whole of London must be closing down."
"And we were here to see it." I told the Doctor.
"I know, I can't beleive it. This is fantastic."
"Did you know this was gonna happen?"
"Nope." We said together.
"Do you recognize the ship?"
"Nope."
"Do you know why it crashed?"
"Nope."
"So glad of got the two of you." Rose said sarcastically.
"I bet you are. This is what we travel for, Rose, to see history happening right in front of us."
"Well let's go and see it. never mind the traffic, we've got the TARDIS."
"Better not do that," I stated. "Probably best not to add to the number of spaceships they've got in the middle of London."
"Yeah, but yours is like a big blue box, nobody's gonna notice."
"You'd be surprissed, an emergency like this. There'll be all kinds of people watching. Trust Katherine on this, this TARDIS stays where it is."
"So history's happening and we're stuck here." Rose stated dryly.
"Yes we are."
"We could always do what everybody else does." She pointed out. The Doctor furrowed his eyebrows, looking at her. "We could watch it on TV."
"Oh, it's so utterly human. I love it. Come along, Doctor." I grabbed his hand and we turned back, heading back to Rose's place.
