We re-entered the ballroom and went instantly to the panel by the door.
"That wasn't a gravity pocket." The Doctor stated.
"We know gravity pockets, and they certainly don't feel anything like that." I took my braid out of my hair, shaking it out before pulling it up into a ponytail once again.
"What do you think, Jabe?" The Doctor asked as the female tree came up to us. "Listen to the engines, they're pitched up about thirty Hertz. Is that dodgy, or what?"
"It's the sound of metal, it doesn't make any sense to me." She replied.
"Where's the engine room?"
"I don't know. But the maintenance duct is just behind our guests' suite. I could show you...and your wife." She nodded at me.
"Oh, she's not my wife." The Doctor denied.
"Partner?"
"Nope."
"Concubine?"
"No."
"Prostitute."
"Whatever she is, it must be invisible. Do you mind?" Rose asked.
"Thank you." I told her. "Why don't you two run off and share some photosynthesis and I'll let Rose catch up with the family?" I grabbed Rose's arm, pulling her away from them. I looked back to see the Doctor offer her his arm and lead her out. I rolled my eyes.
"You ok?" She asked.
"Fine. Come on..."
"Quick word with Michael Jackson?" I laughed at the comparison.
"Yeah, yeah, let's do it."
"Earth Death in fifteen minutes. Earth-death in fifteen minutes."

"Soon the sun will blossom into
"Soon the sun will blossom into a red giant and my home will die. That's where I used to live, when I was a little boy. Down there. Mummy and Daddy had a house built into the side of the Los Angeles Crevasse." She sighed. "I'd have such fun."
"What happened to everyone else?" Rose asked. Uh oh. "The human race, where did it go?"
"They say mankind has touched every star in the sky."
"So you're not the last human."
"I am the last pure human. The others...mingled. Oh, they call themselves New-humans and Proto-humans and digi-humans even Human-ish. But do you know what I call them? Mongrels."
"Right. And you stayed behind."
"I kept myself pure."
"You might be pure, but you're also alone. What kind of an existence is that?" I asked.
"How many operations have you had?"
"Seven hundred and eight. Next week, it's seven hundred and nine, I'm having my blood bleached. Is that why you wanted a word? You could be flatter, Rose. Both of you. You've got a little bit of a chin poking out."
"I'd rather die." I knew I should stop this before it got out of hand, but...I just couldn't look away.
"Honestly, it doesn't hurt."
"i mean it, I would rather die. It's better to die than live like you, a skanky trampoline." I bit my lip to hold in a laugh.
"Oh, well. What do you know?"
