7. Strike A Balance

People have problems. Infact, even if one has a happy go lucky life, it becomes boring after a certain point. And in that moment- we realise that life should have a balance of everything. To feel happiness, we should know sadness. To truly enjoy riches, we should know what it feels like to be poor. Before loving others, we must learn to love ourselves and before exercising a judgement, we must understand mercy and forgiveness.

Similar is the story our King. And the King here is each one of us- in some form or the other.

We all know that everything in excess is poisonous. Yet, we don't want to see the pitfalls, we only want to look up to the bright side. But friends, life was not meant to be rainbows and butterflies. So accept the downs, strike a balance and convert them into your many crowns.

The King and his court as usual had gathered,
Together they did things which they thought really mattered.

For the King was very just and fair,
Minuscule pain to subjects, he couldn't bear.

He strived hard and made rules and laws,
Yet day after day only increased- the number of outlaws.

Not knowing what to do, he became morose,
So poor was his state, he couldn't even doze.

Then one day, in the season of cherry blossom,
Came along a Sage, to whom he recounted his problem.

The Sage smiled and asked for a big jug of tea,
The king obliged, obviously baffled what was to be.

The learned man began pouring tea in the cup,
The King, quite confused, asked how it would solve his hiccup.

The Sage said nothing but continued to pour,
The king became restless, when it started to overflow on the floor.

At this point, the Scholar smiled,
He said one thing- clear and concise.

You intend to take away your people's worries,
But you seem to forget that each new law will only lead to more flurries.

The people don't need orders from the palace,
Instead they need a King there- who is capable enough to Strike a delicate Balance!
