The (Un)Ballad of the Knight: Part I

45 19 23

This is the story of a fearless Knight
Nothing unusual when he rode alone at night.
Such was his aura and such was his flair
He was his enemy's living nightmare.

They said he had no heart, he'd traded soul
His thoughts so dark, bringing shame to coal
All this unbeknownst to him
He rode in that landscape- dark, dim.

The truth if told- might make you dreary
The knight and his horse were not always erie
His being- as colourful as mine or yours
Until the day when a witch cast a curse.

A long time ago, he cared for a free bird
Ready to bring together the three worlds at her one word
So intense and pure was his passion
It seemed to the world a bit out of fashion.

As days went by- the Knight wished to settle
A quiet country life, with his rose-petal
This made his King a bit too wary
And why not, coz it meant losing the best metal from his quarry.

The King unable to sleep relegated to his library
Started devising a plan to the contrary
He came out after two days with a plan
Called his trusted witch and spoke with elan.
