College Days

Disclaimer: Hey there dear readers ..
I had actually penned a much better version but somehow it got lost earlier in the day while publishing..
So with a heavy heart, I again sat down and wrote this. I hope you like it.. But first one sounded way better to me. Let me know how you like this!

As soon as I saw my name in the final list
I experienced a haze- my thoughts turned into a mist

The sweet fruits of my toil and hard labour
Took away my tizzy and caused an unusual caper.

"How will be the first day, who will be my new friends?"
With all these thoughts in mind, I stared at a long journey with no sightable end.

As I reached the gates of the college building,
I was unsure and unable to digest this wonderful new feeling.

How lucky I was- to meet a few people on the last benches
Today,  I'm sure they will fight with me even in the most desolate trenches.

In the beginning of our amazing journey
We bonded over dreams of becoming Chartereds and also a few Attorneys.

I still remember our mesmerizing trips
And those ten thousand reasons we made to spare us from the whips.

How can I forget the place, where hearts met
As well as the spots, where I saw peeves' pets.

No, there's nothing wrong with bad experiences too
They only bring out the hidden strength stored within you.

The Classrooms which bear witness to all our fun and frolic
And the Grounds that would cast away all tensions and spirits diabolic.

Can I miss the Library, so grand and spacious
Well flocked with minds- competitive yet gracious.

But these are not the only reasons
Of remembering this institution, that blossoms in my mind in all seasons.

I am what I am because of this temple of knowledge
Which taught me- 'there are no limitations to the mind except the ones we acknowledge'.

Otherwise, what was I? Just an ordinary student with some stories
College made me realise the importance of venturing into new territories.

It was here that a boy- so naive and shy
Learned first hand, how to say 'hello' and 'hi'.

And from that point onwards, I have never stopped
Sure there have been moments when my spirits have dropped..

...But this institution threw me amidst people, smart and clever
Even I grabbed the opportunity and made friends- ties that would never sever.

Here I also learnt the true power of hardwork and modesty
And saw how problems turned into a powerless travesty.

There are a million other things and I can go on and on
But I'll stop here, before you break into a yawn.

I have already selected my path and calculated the distance upto the last mile
I hope you've done the same, if not- do it and do it with style.

Time has come for me to move ahead on my way
But I know, I'm really gonna miss my college days!
