The (Un)Ballad of the Knight: Part III

37 16 33

Somethings once done can never be undone
These are the words of elders and have been witnessed by the sun
The Knight knew it too and was consumed by despair
His head exploded-"How could this life be so unfair?"

Drunk with guilt and sadness
The Knight descended into sheer madness
Seeing this the King derived devilish joy
Now that he had regained his old toy.

One after the other, battles he began to wage
And won each one, all credits due to the nonpareil's merciless rampage
Many years have passed since he left that life
But with time speculations only became rife.

At length the Knight realised his folly
That he had stooped to acts so vile, so lowly
All he was left with was emptiness and hate
And now he felt crushed by his own weight.

He tried and tried real hard to change
Yet men of his ilk are often estranged
Now all he has left are his saddle and horse
Subsisting just on fear, no need to use force.

Fear he has learned is an amazing thing
No words no swords, still people feel it's sting
And thus it is only darkness which he has to brave
No, he ain't an advocate of devil, ventures at night- only to visit Her unguarded grave.
