As they sat across the river bank
Beneath the dazzling summer sun
The first man asked his fellow travellers
A question that left everyone mum

He asked:
What do you think is the correct option
Justice or Revenge?
The just shall say Justice
And the vengeful shall say Revenge
Pray, tell me what do you make of this
Lets have a conversation, not just sit in bliss

Amongst the merry group of vagabond
There was a man- old, dark; moribund
Smile on his features and sucking a puff
He started a story and began thus:

In the lands of Babylon far away
There's an inn named 'Mirage Play'
Where once gathered the Jury, a curious mix
To solve the case dubbed as 'Devil's Fix'

At the centre of the case was Protagonist
A man some claimed to be the murderer
While others revered as the ultimate saviour
The case was pretty simple or so everyone felt
But none knew the way in which it be dealt.

Protagonist had killed a man
Unable to bear the suffering,
He took matters in his own hand.
Earning the praise of many,
But wrath of the King, his Tyranny!

Though Jury was supposed to be fair
A beacon of Justice,
Wise men seated on the high chair.

Yet the Revenge of the King came in between
His pride had been bruised
When Protagonist was admired by his Queen.

Yet, this was all just a sham,
Bare Truth was that Protagonist had once
In a fit of rage, vowed to finish the King's clan

And thus a simple case of Justice
Had become a way to exact Revenge
Using the greatest guise- itself Justice!

What happened in the case, I don't know
Or maybe if I did, it wouldn't matter much

Is killing the oppressor justified
Or is usin' that fact by another oppressor fair
Is taking law in his own hand not a manifestation of Justice
Or is making him liable- some obscure form of divine Justice?

Many people have tried to find the answer
Many have taken stands, many still falter
But I'll only say this-
who are we to judge?
Without even knowing their contention and their grudge!
