I blinked slowly, trying to convince myself that I wasn't seeing things.

This shouldn't have happened, I thought. I wasn't prepared for this and I feel completely off guard...

Blake Evans - the boy I was assigned to kill - was standing right there in front of me.

I froze and he smiled at me, packing the items back in the boxes.

"I'm so sorry about that," He grinned. "I should have been paying more attention to where I was going instead of my phone!"

"Oh. Well... no harm done I guess..." I winced at my cringey-ness and I just wanted to curl up in a ball and hide away.

But of course, as if the universe wanted to torment me even more, he carried on with the conversation.

Blake stood up and brushed himself off, leaving me still kneeling stupidly on the ground. He laughed and extended is hand to pull me up.

Oh gosh, he was laughing at me wasn't he.

"Thanks," I mumbled weakly in reply.

Blake put his hands into the pockets of his jeans and asked: "So, are you new to the area?"

"Yep! But I haven't had a great start because I'm already bumping into people!"

He laughed warmly - it was the type of laugh that made you want to join in too.

"I'm Blake by the way and you are..."

My heart stopped as I had almost forgotten: the most important rule of being a spy is that I'm not supposed to reveal my real name.
I can not blow my cover under any circumstances.

"Tessa."

I took a deep breath internally. Tessa Wilson will be my new identity for the next month.

Blake nodded, "Oh cool. Well, I'll hopefully see you around sometime - maybe next time without us bumping into each other literally?"

"Gosh that was such a corny joke!" I shook my head, in disapproval, and face palmed jokingly.

"I know," Blake simply replied. "But if you'll ever get to know me, you'll hear a lot more of my bad jokes and you'll find out that that one is definitely not the worst of them."

"Great!" I chuckled sarcastically.

"I'd better go and let you settle into your house, now though. See you round!" He turned, and walked away.

I waved and smiled as he left but the warmness I felt when he was around quickly vanished and I was left with the coldness of reality.

Mum will not be happy if she finds out that I nearly blew my cover in less than an hour of me even being here.

As I was about to go inside, mum appeared in the doorway with a steaming cup of tea in her hands, "Who was that?"

"No one mum," I declined my head and walked inside the house. "It was no one."
