We were nearing towards the end of the school tour when the bell rang for our first lesson of the day.
Blake sighed, "Our first class is Maths."
He looked anxiously at his watch and shifted his feet impatiently.
"I better not be late for this class - Miss Jones is on the verge of snapping at me and giving me detentions that will probably last til the end of my life."
I choked down a laugh as he actually looked serious, "Why?"
"Let's just say, I think she gives us too easy work and she hardly ever teaches us," He rolled his eyes and slid his hands through his hair, in an exasperated manner. "She just sits down and goes on the computer doing who knows what, while we get endless sheets of simple maths."
Wow, I thought. So he's popular and clever. But what has he done wrong that makes me have to kill him?
"Now she thinks I have 'too much of an ego' for questioning how she teaches and she's trying to point out any tiny thing I do wrong to get me in trouble," He continued.
I winced sympathetically, "That sounds awful."
Blake grinned slightly, as if I was the only who understood his pain, then showed me to my Maths class and was about to walk to his when I stopped him, "We don't have Maths together?"
He nodded, "Yeah, it's a shame isn't it. But, I'll see you later!"
He winked and clicked his fingers at me while he turned around to go to his lesson, walking away in a confident stride.
I shook my head and allowed myself a small smile.
He's such a weirdo.

For the rest of the day I had no other lessons with Blake which sucked; a whole day wasted.
I was supposed to start learning more about him for my mission but I guess I wad going to have to wait it out a little. At the end of the day, just as I was about to walk home, Blake came up to me.
"Hey, so how was the rest of your day?" He asked.
"Great, thanks!"
Blake looked behind him and beckoned a girl to join us. She jogged forward, her blonde ponytail bobbing due to her movement, and placed her hand on Blake's shoulder.
I recognised her from one of my classes.
"Hey Blek," The girl laughed and shoved him playfully. Then she turned her attention to me: "You're new! It's Tessa, right?"
I nodded and looked down, suddenly feeling very awkward.
"Cool, my name's Aria," She grinned at me. "I've seen you in a few of my classes and I love making new friends."
She had a slight accent when she spoke, that I couldn't place."Okay! Let's be friends." I replied, not sure of anything else to say. How lame was that?
Blake saved us all from the horrific silence and said to me, "Do you want to walk home with Aria and I? It's okay if you don't want to..."
I smiled and felt my face flush. There's no harm in it is there?
"Sure!"
We started walking home, talking about our day at school to each other and I had almost forgotten about everything. The mission, Marshall, Mum leaving for York… Well, almost.
At least I had finally felt normal, even if it was just for a few seconds.
But I knew Marshall and Mum were going to ask me about what happened today or if I've made any progress, and disappointedly I've made none.
I pushed those thoughts out of my mind, and focused on my feet rhythmically pacing one after the other, immediately feeling calmer.
"So Blek, how was Miss Jones? Was she being as horrible as usual?" Aria asked.
Before Blake could reply, I took the courage to say: "Why do you call him Blek?"
They both turned to me with scrunched up facial expressions as if they were trying not to laugh.
With a suppressed smile, Aria replied, "Let's just say I'm originally from Spain—"
So that was what the slight accent I heard was.
"—When I first met Blake, six years ago, I always thought that his name was pronounced as Blek but when I found out how it was really said we both thought it was really funny... So the name stuck!"
"You guys have known each other for six years?!"
Blake nodded, "OG buddies since we were nine years old!"
Aria put her arm around Blake's shoulder and ruffled his hair.
Blake slapped her hand away, "Stop!"
But Aria just laughed and linked her arm through mine: "Blake hates it whenever anyone touches his hair.""Noted," I laughed.
I looked up and realised that we had arrived at my house.
"Oh! I didn't even realise: this is my house," I said.
"Really? It's only a street away from mine," Blake replied.
"And mine is only a few houses away!" Aria squealed. "Tessa, is it alright if I can have your phone number?"
I nodded and quickly gave my number to her and Blake, feeling curious because normally I was the one who took that first step.
"I'll see you round Tessa!" Aria called, hugging me tightly.
"See you tomorrow," Blake smiled. He leaned in slightly and it looked as if he was about to hug me but at the last second he didn't.
My stomach churned in confusion.
Why didn't he hug me?
I nodded absentmindedly and watched them as they walked away.
However, I wondered if they would still be smiling if they knew who I really was and why I was here.Feeling upset at that thought, I went inside and slammed the door behind me.
