"Dad?" I shrieked, the emotions in my system that had been buried deep into the back of my mind, were finally unleashed when he walked through the door, as tears of surprise and joy.
I hadn't seen my Dad for a year after he left for a confidential mission and became missing; I thought I'd never see him again.
He limped through the door, his hands tied behind his back, his shoulders held by a bulky guard and his face dirty - but it was him. It was still him.
Mum and Sophie followed him into the room their hands also tied like they were hostages.
Mum's hair was plastered all over her face in a mess and as soon as my joy arrived, it quickly diminished as I saw the terrible state they were all in.
"What happened to you all?" I worried, then turned to Marshall. "Why are they tied up? And isn't Mum supposed to be in York?"
"A year ago, I found out that your dad had started to suspect that what we do here in the organisation isn't as good as it seems." Marshall hissed in a snarling tone, suggesting that he didn't enjoy recalling this memory. "So, to make sure he didn't ruin everything, I sent him on a fake mission and hired people to bring him to be kept hostage in this warehouse."
I stared incredulously at him, "You kept him here for a year?"
"I thought that he would be more useful alive, than dead - and it turns out I was right because now he and the rest of your family will be able to motivate you to kill Blake." He whispered the last sentence with a glinting smirk on his face. "They'll be dead if you don't."
Can he please just stop saying that.
"You made my mum and I think that my dad was dead!" I yelled. "You could have at least told us he was still alive."
Ignoring me, Marshall continued, "Weeks ago, your mother also started to realise my real intentions. After I gave her the mission, she upfronted me instead, saying that she will no longer let you be a part of this organisation anymore. When I said no, she tried to attack me, but her violence was nothing but feeble against my guards."
I shook my head in disbelief and ran to my family, "Mum, Dad, Sophie I—"
"Enough with the pettiness, I showed you your family safe, now it's your turn to return your side of the deal," Marshall interrupted in a harsh tone.
I looked at Blake and our eyes locked, his silently pleading, fatigue and anger displaying on his face.
I looked away and took the dark vial of poison out of my pocket. It would be easy to do and it would save my family, so why couldn't I bring myself to do it?
I turned to my mum, her expression dazed, thoughtful and it looked like she hadn't eaten properly for days.
"Do whatever your heart tells you to," She whispered.
My mouth gaped in shock: she's never spoken like that before.
I took a slow deep breath, then regained composure.
Love.
I love my family.
I love Blake.
Love wins over hate and killing: love wins over all else.
"No." I whispered, barely making a sound. "I will not kill anyone."
Silence filled the room, Blake's mouth curved into a slight smile and a number of different emotions – shock, disappointment and surprise – flitted across Marshall's face.
But before long, his emotionless expression returned once again.
"Oh," Marshall replied. "Well, that's a shame. You really had a lot of potential."
He clicked his finger and his guard pushed me to the ground making me yell in surprise.
Blake audibly sucked in a breath as the guard started to tie me up tightly, making my wrists burn.
He sighed, "I really wish it hadn't come down to this but I had a feeling you would do something like this so I've timed a bomb in this building. In a matter of time, you will all be blown to bits!"
I slouched in the corner of the room.
This is all my fault.
Suddenly, a loudspeaker in the room blared out: "10 minutes until the bomb explodes. Please evacuate the building."
Marshall cackled heartily, "It's working!"
"Lucas," Aiden cried out. "Please don't - we're family."
"Oh please," Marshall rolled his eyes. "You made it very clear a long time ago that you didn't want me a part of your family."
"But when the bomb explodes, won't it cause a commotion with the people who live nearby?" Emma questioned, shakily.
"My dear Emma," Marshall tutted. "We're in an abandoned warehouse in the countryside. No one lives within ten miles of this place and by the time the bomb explodes, I'll already be out of this place."
I can't believe this: Marshall has thought of every outcome, making there no way to stop him.

Blake looked in my direction, "Hey, Olivia. What you did was really brave - I'm not sure if I'd have been able to make a huge decision like that."
I smiled slightly back at him, even though I was breaking inside.
My dad searched my eyes, "You did well, honey."
"Well?" I scoffed. "But we're all going to die now and it's my fault."
"You listened to your heart, instead of what someone else told you to - and that's the best thing we could have asked for from you," He simply replied.
Then, the speakers blared again, making us all jump:
"8 minutes until the bomb explodes. Please evacuate the building."

Helloooooo!
Do you think they'll be able to stop Marshall?
And if so, how do you think they will do it?
I hope you had a great day!
